Hi

I am new to this forum and first would welcome any advice for anyone in the South Yorkshire area who has done a massage course. I was looking at Shefifeld Center for Massage Training but been told by a friend of a friend that its not accredited and to stay clear (its also not cheap) but it accredited to the Massage Training Institute, so what does that mean as its not a VTCT course or anything like that. So any advice appreciated or any helpful tips on where to go in this region to get a decent part time ideally night 1 eve a week / some weekends course. I have tried Sheffield College but this one is on the only day of the week that I can't do.

It is all a bit confusing at the moment in order to ensure I pick the right course. The idea longer term is to learn more about the body / massage and maybe move more into the sports side of things. But thats longer term.

Any advice or pointers welcome

thanks

Helen

Hi Helen, I did my training at the Sheffield Centre for Massage Training 3 years ago and it was fantastic. IMO much more indepth than the VTCT course. It is more of an holistic approach, focusing on the whole person, not just the body and tailoring the massage for each client, not following the same pattern. Vicky, the tutor, is really good and always available to help with any problems. MTI is a member of the General Council for Massage Therapy and you would also be able to join the Complementry & Natural Healthcare Council and the Northern Massage Association. SCMT have taster days to try it out and have a chat. I would recommend the course. Hope this helps a little!
