Hi Everyone

I am in the middle of putting together some independent research for my final dissertation, and wondered whether anyone would be able to help me please? I am researching the use of complementary therapies in alcohol addiction, whether it can help to actually treat the condition and how effective it is.

I am aware of how sensitive this subject is to many people (myself included) but would very much value some input from both therapists and therapy receivers alike. I am hoping that by getting some real feed back, not just journal findings, I can present a well balanced conclusion that is non biased, but has real testimonies.

Thanks so much for reading this, any help at all would be very gratefully received!!

Hi Jade,

Have you tried to access material via Google Scholar?

For a final dissertation you won't have too much time to collect loads of first-hand data, and may be better using a search engine like this for your reference material. Its free if you haven't already used it. Just google Google Scholar.

Collecting the data first-hand will mean loads of work. If you approach an NHS-run dependancy unit they may be willing to let you have some data (if they use comp therapies), but you'll need Ethics Comittee approval first which will take time, a (usually) lengthy submission on why you need the data, and an interview with the local Ethics Committee.
