RE: Wireless danger
Running a little late on this one, but with regards Wi-Fi. From memory the home type run on around 5 watts or so at roughly the frequency of a microwave oven. However your microwave runs at 650w+ and although it's shielded, it ain't that good, plus what happens when you open the door...?
As for pylons - erm, yeah. Different type of energy involved, but whether they can effect us probably depends on what effect the electromagnetic field has on the iron in our bodies.
I couldn't for example see it causing cancer as I can't see how it would affect the DNA of the cells, but I'm not going to buy a house under one just incase of other effects. Then again, they might actually be good as won't they produce ions - like those ion air cleaner thingies?
[caveman]...how do you then explain the higher rate of recorded disease for people living near pylons and masts
Who paid for the studies? The trouble with most studies which come to conclusions on both sides is that they either are too small, too specific or paid for by an interested party.
Take mobile phones where everything has been claimed so far, butnothing that independent or large scale seems to have been carried out as there's no-one independent to pay for it. I wouldn't recommend that kids use them all day long, but as to whether they'll cook you or not - well who knows. Text messaging has it's advantages since it only causes RSI instead of cooking your fingers. 🙂
Btw, of course one of the biggest causes of disease out there is stress & worry... 😉

The website of Serena Roney Dougal, a parapsychologist and author of the book Where Science and Magic Meet, in which she explores ... among many things ... the relationship between us and the earth's magnetic field, most particularly the effect of iron ore deposits on the human pineal gland. Fascinating stuff!

RE: Wireless danger
I remember watching a Panorama-type documentary on the possible links between pylons and the increased incidents of childhood leukaemia.
RE: Wireless danger

Plug them into any mains socket and you have a network 🙂 as they use the mains wiring to transmit data.
