True, it's all speculation as we know nowt about them..well the public don't anyway 😉
There have been reports about a tall nordic looking race which are very humanlike in appearance, but then it's all specualtion again [8D]

Whilst I agree all this, and realising the extent of the Universe, and how we have barely scratched the surface, I cannot conceive of any alien lifeforms knowing that Earth exists, let alone it supporting viable life. This is the problem I have with alien spacecraft stories. How can they cross the vastness of space to come here, yet we have no knowledge of them? How do they know about us in the first place?
I agree with caveman's reply - and the subject has also come up before more than once on HP. It's already there somewhere in past threads.
First one has to accept the evidence, not ignore it, and the evidence is a simply vast accumulation of sightings, experiences, and encounters. The average layperson just doesn't know how many well-authenticated UFO events, including involving the military, happen globally each year. So you take the data to begin with, rather than wondering, "How could they ... " (this and that). It begins with the data which is real and inexplicable. It IS happening.
In the Vedas UFOs are gone into in depth; and there the statement is that they are not just from other planets but other 'vibrations of existence'. IMO it's to intrude our characters into it to call it "vast distances of space". I don't think there's anything vast about it - they don't travel as we do, burning fossil fuels!, but they come in a way which is nigh-intantaneous, and easy. That's what the Vedas also say.

Is there a link to a website where we can read more about the Vedic descriptions? Sounds very interesting. Didn't they call them Vimanas or something like that?

There was an HP thread months back (somewhere!) with links. I don't recall the thread. Vimanas (I think) were the aircraft the very ancient peoples of the Indus had (not aliens), and also used in warfare, according to the Vedas. But there are detailed Vedic teachings on the alien races and contact with them.
It's the old answer of "It's somewhere in a past thread". But most of all, one great book detailing the Vedic teachings on UFOs came out some few years back. I'll try to get the link to it again....
