David, the point is - your game took place within natural laws. No matter how you changed it, it still complied with nature and the laws of physics.
You can say that because you are outside the boundaries of the ant universe. But you are inside the boundaries of God's Universe, while God is not. He can go up the road, buy or create another Universe, and drop you into it, where it all works differently.
Rationality is a very limiting thing. God is not rational in the human, limiting way. In mystical experiences I find that I am not me. I do not exist as me. I exist as a part of a huge Whole. The thing I think of as "me" is a kind of illusion. Mysical experiences are escaping the boundaries ... The rational mind can never ever comprehend it. You can only "Be" it, and bring back the revelation - which you still can then never pass on to others in rational words. You can't transmit the experience to another.
Over and out for now!
RE: inteligent design
I really am not getting involved in this anymore. It's obvious that I am being picked on because I see things differently.
Shaun - this subject really doesn't come under the auspices of scientific discussion, as evidenced here.
Patsy.
RE: inteligent design
Oh Patsy- don't be silly! We're not 'ganging up' on you. we're not saying you shouldn't hold your beliefs. We're just trying to explain (here I am using the royal 'we' - hope you don't mind, David!!:)) how we feel and why we don't think the same way that you do. You started the thread, Patsy, presumably to promote discussion of everyone's beliefs. If you just wanted people to agree with you then you should have said at the outset! Sorry - but if you want to take your ball home then OK.
David - I know what you're talking about with your ant kingdom. there was a piece in the Indy (where else!:D) years ago by Miles Kington who is above all else a humourist. He wrote of a day out with his wife on a cliff somewhere in Devon. Looking down into the small bay below they watched the sunbathers and swimmers and felt like God. then they noticed that the tide was coming in and realised that the people on the beach might be in danger of being cut off or even of drowning. At that point it seemed there was nothing they could do - they were too high to shout a warning, they had no mobile phone, there was no time to drive anywhere; they were helpless. so they just watched and Miles found himself becoming very detached and realising that this was exactly what it must be like for God. In the end everyone on the beach packed up and left in plenty of time but Kington's final realisation was that it wouldn't really have made much difference to him personally if they hadn't!!! He called this the nearest he had ever come to a spiritual experience.

RE: inteligent design
I didn't start this thread Sunanda - Shaun did. I would never have chosen a subject like this to discuss on a 'science' forum.'
edited to add: for your information, my scientific training coincided with my mediumship training, and they worked well together. It wasn't until I began studying earth sciences that my belief in god was reinforced, even though I had prayed for a miracle to happen long before that, and which did happen. It was quite natural too - nothing out of the ordinary. It's nothing to do with people agreeing with me, it's a question of considering belief in a logical way.
I feel as if I am being picked on because I don't see things in the same way, Nothing to do with taking my ball home. What a cheeky thing to come out with.
Patsy.
RE: inteligent design
Gosh yes, sorry Patsy, you didn't start this thread. Sorry about the ball thing. Cheeky? Possibly. Malicious? Not intended. Am I forgiven? Are you going to come out to play again? I'll give you one of my gobstoppers....[sm=newangel.gif]
