RE: How can nothing exist?

But that is the wholepoint- nothing, or 'zero value' is an abstract conception.

The 'number' zero had to be invented by (fairly modern) mathematicians, since there is no zero state in nature for us to perceive. The same can be said for negative numbers- it is an artifact. You never see negative six trees, or minus five pebbles, etc.

There is no such thing as nothing, sincenothing is simply theinfiniteabsence of something, and infinity is a mathematical construct which does not exist except in theory.

If you are a farmer, and your crop completely fails, then you have nothing. so it does exist. 😮

Serap - you are quiet on this...........do you need the answers for an essay...........

How many examples do you want.

Voltage through an electic circuit. AC Current varying between, let's say +5v and -5v has to pass through the state of 0v to get between the 2 (it's not quantum and doesn't jump from one to the other without passing through the inbetween states). Switch off the electricity and there is 0v on the circuit.
😉

Nowt abstract about that.

There is no such thing as nothing,

(Contradiction in terms)

sincenothing is simply theinfiniteabsence of something

Infinite in what way? I'd say it's a "complete" absence of something, and "complete" is very whole and tangible.

and infinity is a mathematical construct which does not exist except in theory.

So you're saying that the universe is not inifinite and has boundaries? So what's outside those boundaries?

Well you wouldn't have nothing, you'd have a failed crop which is something surely?

not if you came back to the field and there was nothing there. It could be a failed crop or a stolen crop - both are still nothing
