RE: Flawed Science
Ok wayfarer, perhaps I should have been more specific. I did Maths and Further Maths at A Level.
People who program microchips are often not mathematicians. In this case it is the microchip programmer, not mathematics that is at fault. A chip cannot represent an infinite series and such an assumption is flawed, not the mathematics.
It's not the chip programmer at fault. As you point out, it's a limitation of the computer chip itself, and how many decimal places it can handle. One day they'll get around to putting a flag bit against the numbers (like they do for signed numbers) to indicate that it's a recurring value, thus creating more acurate results.
Now let's get off the serious stuff and get back to making this a more lighthearted thread, which is what was intended really in the first place.

RE: Flawed Science
ORIGINAL: Who?
While Science has overcome
the barriers of time,
distance and nationality,
it has done little
to promote
better understanding
between man and man,
nation and nation.
Although this is something more suited to discussion in the Current Affairs forum, I would have to agree and disagree. Yes, science has causes issues between nations, but it has also acted to bring nations together in other senses. For example, the need to create theories in the quantum field to explain the existing mysteries, isn't just tackled by one nation, but is a challenge for all nations who work together and share their knowledge in a bid for greater understanding.
