When I search for my directory listing under "Reflexology" and either "Hitchin" or "Herts" it doesn't return any results. But when I search under all Reflexology lisitings mine is definitely there.. ALso I did a search for "EFT" with no area specified and it brought up the 3rd page of three instead of the 1st. Are there some gremlins in the system?!

in the members area, make sure you have hitchin and herts in your address fields, and then try pressing the update button at the bottom of the page and also on the next page make sure you click the links to continue...
it sounds like your address details have not been updated correctly doing the above should fix it

The address details all looked correct but I confirmed it anyway and tried to search again but didn't work....

well i just done a search and you are there:
goto the directory, choose reflexology and type hitchin or herts and you are the only listing that comes back

Yes, working for me now too so I don't know why it wouldn't before even though I tried the search lots of times!
