RE: Thoughts on Like attracts Like
Being told we see what we don't like becasue what we don't like is within us.....
I know what you mean but I do think it sometimes happens. Not all the time though.
BTW who is it who's told you this?

RE: Thoughts on Like attracts Like
Dear Ameliajane
Interesting subject matter that Archangel Michael as advised us on the past.
The Mirror
He said that the 'mirror' reflection is a cliche, the concept had good purpose in the past and he asked 'do you have the same nose, the same eyes, the same hair, the same life experiences as the person sitting opposite you? No, of course not so how can you possibly be a reflection of another? He stated once again that each and every individual is unique and if we have not walked in their shoes there is no way we can really know who they are or appreciate what motivates them to do what they do.
The dictation from AM on The Mirror of Consciousness can be found on this forum.
Like attracts Like
It is my gnosis and experience that one's aura which I consider to be a part of the soul will attract in what the soul needs to purify itself. What resists persists is part of the law of attraction, so one can pull in a negative situation or life condition to assist the soul to heal itself or test its own integration.
Without doubt the more love that we are and the more we have integrated multi-dimensionally, the purer the souls that one attracts into ones domain, purely because one has nothing left to heal, one has become whole and beyond the duality of illusion and in so doing one breaks the wheel of karma. In effect the two become one and the soul can then merge with the spirit in oneness with the purest God essence of all that IS.
So when we get to this point does like attract like?
Interesting perspective, recently I have met the most amazing man, same star sign, self assured, confident, the most extraodinary and interesting character that I have met for many years. We share similar backgrounds in the corporate world but not the same, we share common values but implement them differently, we are both peace makers in our own way he for the UN peace keeping force and I in my work for spirit. He is the protector and I the nurturer, he creates through business management and I respond by providing him with creation. He is a very much a man's man and I think that I have met my match!, I can't get away with anything 😉
Teamwork is the result, unrelentless zeal. If someone provides a counter argument to what I say, he steps in quietly and very casually explains the history or science to back me up. An academic and mathmatician with a heart of gold, a man that really cares about the planet and its people and actively takes charge and action to improve it. Is he a soft touch or new ager no way, however in his goodness he embraces everyone through the heart of love and sheer compassion. He calls himself a fixer but spirit call him the peace maker. In Greek gematria his name means Socrates so that is my pet name for him.
Do I see myself in him? I do see in him what others appear to view in me, I can see how he could trigger others due to his vast life experience and his integration thereof. I can see how some might view him as arrogant, yet if one has also experienced a similar life of diversity and profound depth, one is not triggered by him because his self esteem is at the same or similar high level. I have to say that he is one of the most positive people that I have ever met and so all that he says is constructive and helpful. However, I feel sure that myself and my family will learn a great deal from him - the ex-chairman of the board, ex-stock broker and banker. Do I trigger him? No, however he does seem surprised by the sheer power of love that emanates around me and this is just a business relationship and friendship who knows how it will develop and where it will take us both.
I do wonder what have I done to attract such a powerful man. 😀 So just trust God.
All we can do is trust that our soul knows best and that everything has a very important reason for being including each and every person that enters our lives, all are sacred and of great value on our life journey.
Does that make sense?

RE: Thoughts on Like attracts Like
I've worked with the 'like attracts like' viewpoint for some years and found it very useful! It can be viewed on several levels and I feel, Amy, that you might be over-thinking it a bit?
It was first explained to me as part of my training, when I could not believe that such beautiful, loving spirit people would want to work with me on my path... as my teacher explained: 'like attracts like, so why would they be with you if you weren't worthy and on a level with them?'. It was also explained that if I chose to remain in the heavier levels of depression, then I had an even chance of attracting heavier energy spirit people, but if I worked to reveal my spirit light, then that would be kept away - and it has been.
On a physical level, 'like attracts like' on a more direct fashion because the energies here are 'heavier' and more dense so if we are very depressed, for instance, then we may attract similar people to reflect and
help us to break the patterns. Conversely, we will attract 'lighter' and brighter people when we choose to work on developing our Selves, which is why a lot of peoples' friends change when they begin spiritual development work such as healing.
Where I find this knowledge useful is when someone irritates me or I lose something; I can ask myself what's going on, what am I teaching myself here? When I get the answer, then I can let it go and move on. And of course, it's not all negative - when beautiful people are in your life, you can think on the beautiful aspects of yourself which they reflect in you. And vice versa! 😀
It's not a device for judging and pulling yourself up; it's a device for cleansing the inner lense of perception and brightening your light by recognising and releasing those parts which no longer work for you. And then, as you point out, you can use your life experience to recognise and help others in that predicament. (this is sometimes referred to as being the Wounded Healer; you heal your wounds and recognise them in others)
That's my take on it, anyway.
Blessings

Wow, long exlinations, thanks & yes I understand it from that view point
Amy, that you might be over-thinking it a bit?
[sm=rollaugh.gif]probably..I do do that from time to time[&:]
What got me thinking was a coment made to me in another thread when it come to my choice in people that I don't like. I can think of one person in my life that I can say I truley don't like...everytime this person would come to my house they'd leave a black heavy cloud behind, they we're so critical, down putting, just pure nasty that it came to a point where I thought I can't take it anymore...I mean the persons car would pull up outside my house & I would feel physicaly sick[:'(] & when they would leave my house the air felt really heavy& it was like their pressense was still about, don't get me wrong, I did try with this person, I even tried to understand why they where so bitter, I could understand how their past may make them like they where but I couldn't fully understand why they would use that for a reason....they haven't been to my home for the past 2 years & hand on heart the whole family can feel the benifit...that said the same person it still practically a storker & seems to find out all our business & still enjoys talking negitivly about us but it doesn't 'enter' our lives anymore & doesn't affect us...so...my stumbling block with my question...if like attracts like...did I attract this person into my life...or do I see these dark points becuase there in me...I flippen well hope not[:o]
Love
Amy
