RE: Spirituality Forum Vegetarianism Poll

Love the wee bear, Bluecrystalman!

Know what you mean about meals, having spoken about it with a work colleague who's been veggie since she was 12. Our bosses once took the staff to a meal...(a once-in-a-century occasion) at Burger King!!! Then wondered why she couldn't eat anything...duh.

There's no excuse now not to make veggie meals; there is plenty of info around about it. All it takes is a little thought about someone else and that is probably the rub - most people can't be bothered remembering or even finding out what goes into their food.

Reply to Sol

Firstly a reply to Holistic; - this posting discussion is just that – it is not anything official to do with HP or its moderators, therefore there are no boxes to tick or circles to cross… I didn’t realise that such a thing could be set up officially with the moderators… but to be frank – I am not interested in going that far. This is a social discussion forum on the variable subject of Spirituality– and this particular discussion is about peoples opinions and attitudes to vegetarianism and diet - in reflection to spirituality… As the other postings reveal. If you would like to put your opinion on the subject for others to read then carry on, but don’t expect it to go any further than as above described. Perhaps the inclusion of the word ‘poll’ in the title misled you, such was not my intention – I have now changed the topic title…

Sol, as your first post referred to a poll … before you later edited out all mention of one and I therefore cannot quote you … my initial reply was in response to that. The post was intended to be helpful - nothing more, nothing less. As for my apparent aspirations to officialdom and my "expectations" regarding this thread … well, they simply don't exist. :D:D:D

Moonfeather,

You said:

"I'm thinking of the research which reveals that thought energy and music etc can affect water crystals (can't recall the author right now)"

Could it be Dr Masaru Emoto?

http://www.hado.net/emoto.html

There are links to his own website – in English or Japanese – take your pick! It would be interesting to discuss sunlight, Reiki etc with you … perhaps in another thread sometime.

Bluecrystalman,

That cold pasty sounds absolutely disgusting [X(][&o], regardless of the weather or dietary preferences. On cold days, could you not take your own hot meal with you (a thick soup or a casserole perhaps) in one of those wide-topped Thermos flasks?

RE: Spirituality and Vegetarianism

I will have been vegetarian for 10 whole years this August bank holiday, although it is really 9 years, since I continued to eat fish for the first year. Strickly spekaing someone who eats fish is not a true vegetarian, but simply someone who avoids meat, fish after all are animals, that happen to live in water rather than on the land. They feel pain in exactly the same way that our land (and air) based friends do. Like Mark, it also annoys me when people who eat fish claim to be veggie, as it makes life so difficult for the rest of us, not to mention extremely confusing for catererers. This is why very often, veggie options in resturants (motorway service areas are the worst for this) seem to be fish based.

I had actually been considering the veggie lifestyle though for quite a long time before I finally took the plunge, but was finally persuaded when I went to one of the Mind and Body things at Kempton Park, where I had my aura photographed. The lady there said that flesh eating was having a detrimental effect upon my energy system, and I have not looked back since. Once I began to look into the whole veggie issue though, I became aware that there is much more to this lifestyle than simply not eating flesh, as it also means avoiding slaughter by products, such as gelatin, cochineal, and shellac (both of which are made from crushed insects), it also means not wearing leather. Thankfully there are many excellent sources of non leather shoes and handbags etc. In fact I find non leather walking boots in particular are far preferable to the leather alternative, as they are lighter to both wear and carry, and need no breaking in, which for me is a definate bonus.

As far as Marks comments re cold pasties though, thius is something that most veggies could probably relate to. As I am also wheat free, this makes things even more difficult for me though, as I could not eat such things. Yes, he could bring his own lunch in a thermos flask, but really and truly why should he have to?

I could if i wanted to but

Yes, he could bring his own lunch in a thermal flash, but really and truly why should he have to?

in agreement to June, my meals are all provided and it will cost me money to provide a meal for myself, Last night i had a major moan at the top man who organises all the catering and explained carefully my displeasure and he was not happy about what had been happenning, i wait with baited breath to see if anything changes.

Love & Light

Good for you Mark, after all if he doesn't know there is a problem, how can they change things?
