RE: Spiritualist church
Hello Therapeutic Angel,
Not all Spiritualist Churches have hymns. Hymans are mostly sung on a Sunday, but the other weekday services don't contain them. Indeed, one branch named the New Milton Spiritualists, don't even have prayers or readings or anything. They just 'get on with it.'
It isn't Godbound - nobody bangs on about religion or God. I am sorry if you got that impression. It's much more spiritual than that.
Anyway, I hope that you find what you're looking for.
Love,
Patsy.

RE: Spiritualist church
i had my first visit to a spiritualist church last night and to be honest, hmmm i dont know that it sat comfortably with me. yes, lords prayer, 3 or so hymns, other prayer, stained glass windows of saints (alright, so it has to be done somewhere!)...
i find it hard to equate the christian ideal of "worship" and spirtualism. so... not sure it was for me.

I have to say Rosie, that is the very reason I have not yet visited a spiritualist church.

RE: Spiritualist church
I've been a few times, in the past, in Essex and in Cambridge, and I thought they were great. Not DOGMA ridden at all - which was a blessing - and very friendly.
We have one in our town and I have linked up with a friend who goes regularly and I am joining her in October. I once met a Healer at the Spriitualist Church in Essex, he was a builder, a tall man, very gentle, with HUGE hands - and he was so powerful you could FEEL the energies bouncing off him:D
I agree with Patsy, the whole point is to get directly through to Spirit. Hymns and prayers on Sundays, and prayers for guidance and protection on a normal meeting so you don't have to go through the entire CofE service, yet they are always a very Christ-based - as a symbol of healing power - and you are asked no questions, you don't have to believe in anything.
My daughter's Godmother was with me on one occasion - she had lost her mother a few months previously - the 'speaker' turned to her and said 'Annie is right beside you, and holding white roses' and then went on to tell her the rest of the message form her late mother. Lynn burst into tears but was immensely healed by what had occured - and no, she had never met this lady before - it is all genuine. They usually get travel expenses but no fee is paid, and you rarely see them on TV - the people there have gifts which they share.
I highly recommend them.
