RE: Needing out of the rat race

I can relate to this thread as well, especially over the past few months, I have been umming and arhhing about building up my healing and meditation business and things have got in the way but I am seeming to be pulled more and more in this direction, there is no way at the moment that I can leave work full time but I know that I need to do something else that will get me out of the mundane working for others routine.

I am often told in both meditations and by psychics that I will have ambundance around me when I start doing this but it is really scary at times to go on a new path. Must step out and do it as if I don't it will pass me by and I will be kicking myself.

I have made a start by registering with an on-line readers forum so if I am good I will get paid for live readings! I am looking forward to it and hope it will be a success.

I am being told by spirit that we must follow our hearts desire and we will be rewarding and more fulfilling because you took the risk and made it happen, what have you got to loose.

With love

M!

RE: Needing out of the rat race

What a great thread. I started ITEC Holistic Massage last May after being unable to find a shiatsu course that fit with my silly "corporate" marketing job, and met such a fantastic set of people. we encouraged each other with meditations, grounding exercises, generally exploring spirituality - totally at odds with the macho environment I work in at the moment. We also shared books - a great one is "Authentic business" by Neil Croft - www.authenticbusiness.co.uk I think - which helped me see I could still use my quals and experience, even in a "business" context if I wanted rather than something totally new - a good bridge in between the two states which some of you guys seem to be in. I'd also recommend Louise Hay - You can Heal your LIfe.
I'm now applying for marketing jobs which focus on my personal passions - music, working with others rather than for them, and generally trying to do something which makes a difference - maybe a cliche, but like you say, what really matters in life, is not, I have realised, meeting unrealistic deadlines and dealing with office politics and manoevering.

Just be cool to each other - right?

Hi All,

It is good to see others reaching for the stars and even more so hearing of thoughs who have grabbed it.

I am much more determined than I ever have been & there is also a fear that M! can relate too.

I can't help but notice that there are more & more people craving the "Good Life".
The views of onlookers has also changed as most now look on with an inner desire to do the same.

I have a sense of urgency about reaching my goal to break free as it where, as though time waits for no man & woman has no time to wait.

It would be good to forge an alliance with like minded people, to help fuel each others desires.

Love & Hugs

In 2001 my wife and I and our then 18 month daughter sold our home bought a motor home and travel through France, Spain and Italy for a year. It changed my life and would recommend it to anybody.

RE: Needing out of the rat race

There are certainly books and workshops to assist in this kind of life-change. One I read in 1990 but must still be available if only through the library system is "Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow". (Marsha Sineter.)

(I've often found that to be true, but not always and it isn't so simple. What we'd 'love to do' may have nothing to do with earning, such as travel mentioned by Lancelott.)

I think this thread may run and run. Who wants the rat race? I've tended to dip in and dip back out over time. Sometimes you may lose some of your security; but in other ways you may gain security as you are not 'dependent' upon an unwanted loooong-term job and have not only an inner security (so important!) but also an ability to land on your feet anywhere.

I wouldn't know where to begin with all the different styles of dealing with this issue I've seen people take on. But the outer change is certainly sign of an inner change; and you are right - time is precious. Who'd want to wake up out of the rat race when it's too late and one is too old to self-fulfill?
