I first went to an MBS near Victoria Staition in the late 80s when I lived in London town, the most memorable moment had to be listening to Kim Robertson and Singh Kaur playing their beautiful music... which is now virtually unobtainable. I've seen that "*&#$$$$$$££££££" matthew manning there too and the flying saucer people, the TS used to go , but I don't think they do anymore... it became SO outrageously expensive to hold a stall. There is room methinks for a new fair run along similar lines as the originals - but at a far better budget cost. If you work out what the organisers earn through their space selling, admission fees against the insurance and likely hall hire... someone, somewhere.. is a grinning fat cheshire cat.
Having said all that - they serve a purpose, they allow folk to see and buy that which they ordinarily may not be able to see and buy.
