ALl of the knowledge, and all of the strength we will ever need are already, here and now, ready within us....
Agreed... so how to access that knowledge and strength? What would you suggest, if not 'love and light?'
Moonfeather
Love and light will not lead to strength and knowledge. To access these, you only need to trust yourself, that you are just as smart as anyone, even Jesus or Buddha... they knew nothing that you don't, they just pulled that knowledge up in to their consiousness. If you seek knowledge - and I don't say that seeking knowledge will bring you happiness, and love and light, because it won't necessarily - but if you want it, then just look. Lao Tzu said *how do I know the world is like this? By looking!*
The key, in my view, is to let go of fixed beliefs.

Entirely so Moonfeather, very nicely put - the answers are indeed (IMHO) inside us all - and surely by leaving that safe harbour, and reaching out to entities which may or may not exist, we are brushing aside the real truth and accepting substitutes for our own souls?
I think some people do, Gilly and I'm thinking of the 'workshop junkies' for a start... going to all sorts of weekends for a spiritual 'high' when inside... wow!!
Humans are so desperate to be told what to think, what to feel... I always come back to that wonderful scene in 'Life Of Brian' where the crowd pick up his sandle and decide to worship it...illustrates the herd mentality beautifully.
On the other hand, a signpost or two is usually needed to reveal the way to greater clarity and awareness of the truth within and as long as we don't get hung up on the labels instead of the way forward, then whatever works! Reject the crassness and falsehood... but don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. 😉

Heh... Life of Brian is truly great! The thing about signposts is to trust that you yourself bring yourself to those sign posts.. you yourself bring yourself to the people who can offer you clues..... I head an idea once that everyhting is a clue.... so I watch the Simpsons and someting sparks an in-sight in me... see a kid having a fight, and realise something.... for me, it is the opposite of what energyworker says - for me, there is meaning in everyhitng, a reason why I see and hear everything....

Hi Moonfeather,
I have to agree with you about the herd mentality, that made me chuckle:D I ventured off to spiritual healing classes in 2000, full of tension and I was prepared to be very disappointed and argue a lot like the bloody minded knowitall I can be[sm=nono.gif][sm=nono.gif][sm=devil-smiley-002.gif]
I stayed 3 years because the teachers, a married couple, told us all from the first day 'THINK FOR YOURSELVES AND DON'T TAKE ANYTHING WE TELL YOU AS GOSPEL'
They proceeded to unveil their thoughts, but if any of the 20 in the classes showed signs of agreeing too much with them, we were challenged to separate our thoughts from theirs. We were told NEVER to try to make them into Gurus. In fact they could be quite forthright about the daft stuff you come across sometimes. [&:] They included science as the other half of the equation.
I didn't agree with 75% of what they taught, but the other 25% was mind blowing:D We were all very sad when they said that was enough after 3 years and went abroad for a protracted holiday. Angie had been headhunted to write a book and she wanted to refine this.
So, they are around, people like this, realists as well as having deeply held spiritual beliefs. I think one is blessed if you come across them - too many people ask you to blot out everything you believe in and follow them.
You MUST think for yourself, it is a GIFT.
Love Gxxxxxxxxx

Couldn't agree more. There ARE clues all around us and it's up to us each to work out what our own clues are and where they lead (which is all the same place, IMHO).
There is meaning in everything... but doesn't that bring us right back to Brian's sandle? 😀 Sometimes a sign is a sign... and sometimes it's just a dog poo. 😉

PS I'll be heading off to bed soon and working tomorrow so if you get turfed off the boards, .Xia, just want to say thanks for the interesting debates! Don't agree with everything you say, but it does keep the brain cells ticking.

Quite right! Your couple must have really made you work, Gillyann.
'Think for yourself' was the best and most important lesson my friend/teacher ever taught me, along with 'Trust your own experience'. It's taken a while to filter through and I am guilty of lazy acceptance, but that's me all over. My friend always maintains..."I don't want you to be as good as me, I want you to be better."
Trouble is, she's set the line damn high...:D
Ah me, time for bed...
