So how does the following "sit" with others on this forum. I am trying here to be absolutely honest not just with you but with myself.

Sometimes, I have taken what seems to be a totally irrational, dislike to somebody. I don't mean that I felt "alarm bells" as in that feeling that comes with a threat, but just an intense dislike - and I have behaved immaturely towards and about that individual - if they said black then I'd say white; that sort of thing.

I have had to take a step back, metaphorically, to investigate the why of this. One conclusion I have arrived at is that sometimes we recognise something in that other person which we don't like about ourselves - rather than accept and change that thing about ourselves, it's easier to "kid" ourselves that it's all about the other person....

Not sure if that makes sense - being pestered by a bored 11 yr - old!!

I also find that it is necessary to have discernment (as against Judgement) when I come across those whom I find to have committed some kind of crime of the physical, mental or spiritual kind, and this tells me to step aside and view the person and their actions from a distance, but, I don't find that by sending 'love' to them or the situation, their negative actions are in any sense improved. I personally think that by doing so one is presenting a rather superior attitude;) It is as though you are telling them you are better than they are for doing this. Which in turn is judgemental. And I do agree with Amy in that you have to trust your own judgement as to what and who are right for you.

And .Xia. surely we are able to discern between a bad virus, and human behaviour, IMO the two should not be grouped together as they are of entirely different sources and behave in completely different ways. One cannot attribute the automatic actions of a mutating virus with our own understandings? Yes certainly they are bad, and they can kill millions of people, but, they do not know this, they are not aware of this, they are therefore not responsible for what they do. Whereas we are.

I dislike the man who beats his wife, the people who abuse children, someone who steels for their own greed from those who can't afford it, the judge who judges without knowing all....I do not see those thing in myself so i don't go along with the like attracks like theory or what we see in others & dislike is like looking into a mirror that makes us notice our own faults...yes ok...people can act in verious ways through all sorts of chilhood traumas that affect the adult they grow into & we can pitty them for for the warpdness they've suffered..& even prey that they see their faults & try & change...in the mean time & do not choose their company...my personal choice & decermant

Have you never taken a dislike to someone...a actor, polition, a member of a forum, tv presentor, author, journalist (sp), wife beater, theif, mugger, murdure, child abuser, preacher who preaches what you disagree with.......but have you really....I have;)....& no....like doesn't attract like in the way that you mean...we're all different shapes & sizes in this world...theres nothing bad in using your desernment I instinct when it comes to liking someone or not..it doesn't make you a judge...it just means you know your own mind & trust your own insincts..& here we can loop back to what I was saying about understanding...if you want!!!...well thats my theroy anyway...no doubt alot of you may disagree with what I'm saying but I'm just being honest

I agree! Sure, we all judge a little,.. but what's the problem with calling things as we see them? How would we know what we all felt about stuff otherwise. If we look at it from the other side, who ever made it a law that we can't think someone is an asshole?
