Do you think there are too many professional readers out there (and some unprofessional readers) for anyone new to make a start as a reader?
A google search brings up so many matches, how could it be possible to stand out from the crowd?
Just wondered what your thoughts were?
RE: Is Tarot too saturated
Hi Lilac,
I know what you mean, but the way I look at it, is the same as my Reflexology, there are many of us out there but you need to make sure you are one of the best and offer something different to make people come back or recommend you. I am not a professional tarot reader (yet) i would like to be one day. To me Tarot is a part of your personality, every reader is different, if you use your personality and promote your work in a way that reflects this I am sure clients will come.

Step 1, go for it. Get yourself a good CD Recorder and put the readings on disc. Have faith in what you do and do it to your very best ability. ;)Lyn
RE: Is Tarot too saturated
hi there lilac
i would say that there is room for all, all thewhile there is an interest, there will be business!
for me, i feel potential clients tend to be drawn to those readers who really 'sell themselves' very much in the way people fill in the ' why do you feel you would be good at the job ' section of a job application form. also, the more 'wares' you have on offer is a bonus too, as with feedback from satisfied people, think eBay and its feedback system
as jess has mentioned, putting your own 'stamp' on your readings and promoting your cause where your personality shines through are key elements
warm wishes- calla lily x

Thanks for your replies.
I just feel that its so difficult for people to take you seriously when there are so many companies out there that really take advantage. There are some readers who advertise an hours reading for £80.00. I dont know how they can do this. While I am all for taking some kind of token for the time and energy spent in a reading, surely this cannot be justified!
How do you get people to understand your individual talents if they never find you!

Hi Lilac
Me and you must be going through the same situation, as I keep following you around! You seem to be asking my questions before I get a chance.
I've created my website and got some business cards which i'm putting in shop windows etc I'm starting off slow as I work full time and also run my apartments website so i'm kept busy.
I think a lot of it depends on your start up money and how much you want to spend. Some people get companies to create websites and they get you good listings on the search engines but in order to afford that you need to charge more per reading and be willing to pay out upfront.
At the moment my readings are what I call a 'hobby business' which hopefully will support my deck buying habbit and any expenses.
It is difficult to stand out in a crowd you've got to just build up a first set of clients then hopefully the best type of advertising (word of mouth) takes over.
By the way did you try the past life reading? I've got one to do today i do enjoy doing these but I could say that about all spreads!:D
Take care

hi hunnie.. Agree with whiteroom
It is getting competitive out there.. but it is always best to go with word of mouth, have a look at their website if they have one ,see what they write about their selfs.
I think most people know how I feel about psyhic fairs lol..:D.. many do do cold readings, via body language, basically size you up as you approach them etc.. this of course is my own opinion..
I have had one to one readings from local readers that have been suggested from friends.. and are amazed at how they manage to make their money ... with the gobbledogook they come out with
but hey that's life.. suppose like buy the groceries.. hehehehe.. some shops are good and others well... maybe not..
