Only certain members of the JREF forum were 'nuisances', not everyone was, Ian for example, is not. He is a sceptic, but a healthy one, someone who enjoys reading peoples' comments about the other side of life and maybe contribute to the discussions. He knows (I think) that science, materialism and the so-called 'supernatural' are very natural events indeed and are inextricably linked to one another.
Do you realise Sam was referring to me? I think the people on the Randi forum would be outraged at the suggestion that I am a sceptic! 😀 And yet, I am, because I don't simply just believe things (or disbelieve things), but rather endlessly think about these things (and argue about it on the Randi board, but I won't do that on here).

For what it' worth, I am both a medium and a sceptic! I don#t take things at face value and I question everything about my ability. That's what has made me so successful, I think. When a psychic reader accepts everything as 'gospel' there is something wrong - if one excludes the reasonable explanation, then what one is left with, should be the truth.
I do believe that you are a healthy sceptic, broadminded and open to reasonable discussion. Not to mind-change, because nobody can do that, but an honest and truthful discourse about people's abilities without making those abilities seem insignificant or dismissive.

Sorry, I forgot to finish off..
The Randi board certainly likes to argue, no question about it. You won't find that level of negativity or hostility here, even if you disagree with someone's point of view.
