I was just reading the other thread on skeptics and wondered if there was actually any way to convince a skeptic that something is true. I mean how can you convince a skeptic that spirits are real. Can they minds actually bend enough to believe .. say they saw a spirit .. would their mind accept that as proof or whould they say oh but that could be so and so?

RE: Is there anyway to convince a skeptic?
Hello
I have always and still believe that it is not our role to try to proove anything to skeptics, that is their path and insome way serves their individual spiritual development.
Though I must admit I have seen a few converted through one to one medium readings I have done and after that they are full on believers!!!! So if it is meant it will happen.
I feel a lot of those who are aggressively skeptic are just paralysed in the fear of change, afterall everything they have ever believed would be brought into question, bet they believed in father christmas though LOL!
Best wishes Sam x

I don't think it is up to any one to try and convince another of anything.
You can have all the proof in the world, but if someone chooses not to believe, they will not believe.
I don’t think any less of people who choose not to believe in what I believe. I don’t think any less of the so-called sceptics for their views either.
I think we have come to live on this earth at this time to learn different lessons and follow specific paths, and what is right or wrong for me at the moment is not necessarily right or wrong for another. We all are individuals who need to fulfil different journeys. Lets not get distracted, and let’s get on with what we are here for.
To answer your question in short, no, someone is called a sceptic for a reason…
They will change when they choose to and that is usually when the time is right for them and that; of course, is the best time!

RE: Is there anyway to convince a skeptic?
Categorically, the answer is no.
The implication that any of us can change anything in another is a fallacy. All we can ever do is offer our insight or interpretation to another, the recipient then adds this to their existing thought process and experience and either files it away, or uses it to come to a new interpreation of the topic at hand, or they may even take action.
If the person is open and fluid, they may 'follow' the train of thought to its 'destination', in which case, they may well have a 'revelation' as a result, but all the work done was theirs. The 'convertor' simply provided a signpost for them to 'read' and 'follow'.
Any event which appears to 'convince' someone is a result of their change of choice, as a result of processing information and experience, and not through any inherent power of the event or piece of information, regardless of how it may appear.
As Psychicsam so rightly said, this is normally part of a persons path - many of us HAVE to experience the world as purely being the lower three planes of mind, emotion and matter for our souls learning.
Adepts out there will be aware of the dangers of trying to 'convert', and this applies to anything, not just non-physicality.
When you create any 'signpost' you give it energy, to 'shine a light' to that person for them to see/follow on the mental and emotional planes. (which is why we use the term 'don't you see?' when trying this!)
However, the amount of energy you 'feed the sign' with may or may not make any difference. Careful management of energy should be exercised by practitioners who value their resources. I for one can attest to 'draining myself' many times in trying to convince people of something before learning this lesson.
As a final thought, i would say consider not wasting energy shining a light with a thought or feeling, when you yourself are one. Don't try to open a closed mind, they are all like flowers which will open in sunlight regardless: simply shine.

I read somewhere about The Bhudda - if that is how you spell him.
News was brought of the amazing feats of levitation staged by one of his followers.
I paraphrase his reply:-
"This will do nothing to convince the unbelievers and has no meaning for the believers."
(Or something like that)
Why does any one feel the need to convince people of any thing? Generally.
Why break your lance on the towering walls of ignorance city?
