I am much easier to feed when I ask for veggie things, I get rabbit food.
Just as well I love it and don't mind. 😀
I went to a wetherspoons pub I think it was and they have a vegan meal on the menu. Well, they have a vegetarian meal (sweet potato and chickpea curry) but they have underneath that if you have no naan bread and extra poppadoms it's vegan. Nice to see somewhere making an effort 🙂
My parents booked a family meal in a pub/restaurant so I phoned to see what was available for vegans. I spoke to the manager who then put me on to the chef. After I'd told him what vegans eat (he had to be told!) his comment was 'life wouldn't be worth living' 🙂
It did make me smile. On the night he made me a lovely meal; a mushroom thing with a very tasty sauce. Everyone at the table said how nice it looked and it really was.
Recently I've gone to a few vegetarian Thai restaurants in London, all vegan. This one's nice.
The globe pub in Glossop gets my vote!
Pizza Express - their bases are vegan and you can ask them to leave the cheese, if you call beforehand they seem ok about you bringing in your own vegan cheese and cooking it with that if you like.
Pizza Hut - I think it's the pan and italian pizza bases are vegan and you can ask for without cheese. They've also got the salad bar.
Wagamama - you can ask for ingredients to be left out and you can change type of noodles so that it's vegan. They have a good choice of vegan options as a result and if I recall correctly, their sorbet and fresh fruit ice lollies are ok for vegans too.
The West Cornwall Pasty Company - I know last year or so they released a vegetable pasty that specifically has a sticker on the box on the box that it has a vegan glaze. Not sure if they are still doing them.
Bella Italia - they made me egg free pasta in a tomatoey sauce, not wonderful but at least it was something.
Whetherspoons - they have that curry, you can also get a baked potato with beans and I think one of their soups is vegan too.
Nandos - I've never been but a friend of mine checked and their veggie burger and bean burgers are vegan if you ask for no mayo, their chips are vegan too.
Thumbs down goes to Ichiban Japanese Noodle Bar in Glasgow as they cook all their items, even those labelled as veggie in chicken stock. Also to Hard Rock Cafe in London who after calling to check if their burger would be suitable, upon arrival was told it was cooked in with all the other burgers.
Wetherspoons spicy tomato pasta is also vegan
In Birmingham there is an amazing restaurant that we go to quite a lot - Cafe Soya. They do a huge variety of Chinese and Vietnamese food. But they have an excellent range of Vegetarian and Vegan dishes ... probably one of the best in the West Midlands that isn't a dedicated Vegetarian restaurant.
