Firstly a big hello - I've just discovered theseforums, full of useful info. I've been veggie since 1991 and have been looking for a resource like this for a long time.
My reason for posting was to see if anyone else has noticed that the fresh filled pasta in Sainsburys is NOT vegetarian. I found to my surprise that it actually contains animal fat! Unbelievable in this day and age.
I have contacted Sainsburys via their website and received a reply saying that nobody else has requested such a product but they will look out for any other requests. Interesting considering all the other major supermarkets sell veggie filled pasta.I expect the real reason nobody has contacted them is that nobody has noticed, who expects to find animal fat in roasted vegetable pasta in 2006??
Also, is it just me who used to think Muller Vitality yogurts were great? Until that is they decided to add Omega 3 to them and completely ruin them! Mmmm fishy yogurt....
Anyway, rant over!
RE: Filled pasta / general rant
Welcome to HP, strutter!
Until that is they decided to add Omega 3 to them and completely ruin them! Mmmm fishy yogurt....
There are other sources of Omega 3 apart from fish.
:
Other good plant based sources of Omega 3 fatty acids are:
Leafy Green Vegetables
For a double hit make a spinach and walnut (see below) salad. Add any other ingredients of your choice.
Nuts
Walnuts, Brazil Nuts, Hazelnuts, Pecans. Brilliant as a snack instead of chocolate or sweets. Toast slightly under grill for a great taste.
Seeds
Especially sesame seeds. Choose a seeded roll when you go shopping. Sesame seeds also complement any slightly sweet or spicy chilli dressing.
Tahini
Tahini is a sesame seed paste that is used itself as a dip, and also as a base for some Middle Eastern sauces such as curries, as a 'roux' would be in European cooking.
Just thought you might like to know...:)
