Basically I dont know what to do, I have not had a period since April but it was because I went on a strict diet where I was only eating 1 meal a day and doing a lot of exercise, this caused my periods to stop and the doctor was aware of this. Now I am eating as normal and still going to the gym but not as much as I was doing! The doctor prescribed me to go on the pill (microgynon). I took 21 tablets and finished the last 1 thursday (15th nov 2012). Today (monday 19th nov 2012) i have started my period again. The only concern is do I not take the other x 2 months worth of pills that the doctor prescribed as I dont want to take it on thursday and them stop my periods again, do i let nature take its course now they have started!? I have never taken the pill before, i always use condoms. The only reason why the doctor put me on the pill was to get my periods to re-start. Please could anyone guide or give me advice, I dont like taking the pill to start with as it has messed up my weight and my moods! And before you ask, there is no way i can get pregnant as my boyfriend had the operation done over 10 years ago because he has 3 children of his own with his ex wife. I look forward to hearing from you as i want to do the right thing and for my periods to carry on as normal!

Why not give it a try? Do not take the pill and see if your cycle re-establishes itself.

With my pharmacist head on I can reassure you the only risk in stopping the pill is of pregnancy . But the bleeding you get while on the pill is not a normal period. It simply a withdrawal bleed. So the fact you have had a bleed is NOT a signal that your hormones are back to normal.

It certainly won't hurt not to take the other two months - but there is no guarantee the problem has been solved.
