Hiya,

I'm a transsexual woman and had a breast aug about 6 weeks ago. Everything went great, no serious problems. I am using aloe vera gel at night and a good moisturiser in the morning to help with the scars underneath my breasts. The scars are about 2.5 to 3 inches long each and obviously stand out a lot at the moment. I'm sure they'll fade a bit in time, that's not a problem.

However, about 1 inch of my right scar is quite solid and 'gristly'. It's not painful. I only noticed it yesterday evening, I think, as the rest of the scarring has returned, more or less, to normal. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about this, what might have caused it or what might help? I am due to return to the consultant in March and there is no panic about it at all.

The only 'problem' I had was immediately post-op in hospital my right arm (same side as the breast with the 'gristly' scar), shoulder and breast were numb and I experienced pins and needles for about 2 weeks. I had a great deal of difficulty controlling my right arm for the first few days and kept knocking things over with it, haha. This has pretty much returned to normal apart from continued numbness in my right breast. I think this is slowly coming back as I experience shooting pains throughout it many times a day now and I have regained some sensation in the nipple area. I am wondering if this is linked with the 'gristly' area, perhaps it may be pressing on a nerve?

I have been wearing a non-underwired bra since surgery as recommended by the staff, so this should not have pressed on nerves or caused damage to the scar.

thanks,
Lisa x

I received a private message about manual lymphatic drainage that may be useful to others...

In addition if you do find a qualified MLD therapist see if they will do Kinesio Taping for the scar to help soften it down
