Hello Sheangel,
I am also trying to eat healthy ....which inturn should help me lose weight. I was 13 stone in Jan 09 and im now ...weighing 12.4lbs....i lost quite abit the first couple of weeks..then it was just a lb here and there. I did a bit of research to help me stay on track...and ive found that it is the norm to lose just one to two lbs a week.....the main thing is not to lose faith....and stick with it.....
I have be feeling so great...and in control of my eating...so
Ive told myself this weight took along time to build up and its not just going to fall off over night.!
Just make sure your drinking more water, being more active and watch your portion size.
As for your husbands weight lost...it is the norm for man to lose weight more quickly...then women....thats down to sods law...!!
Stick with it....!

thats what he said, and not to give up, its easy to think blow it and grab that bar of chocolate eh?
But
i read recently that tap water can hinder weight loss as its something to do with whats in it, change to mineral water and see the difference. what do you reckon with that, im always drinking tap water.
Anyway im off to do my salad for tea....!

Right ladies, let me put your minds at rest, you have done nothing wrong!
Somerset Angel and I have written a humerous book about the effects of the menopause (with the Publisher's as we speak!) and weight gain is quite high on the list of the survey we did with ladies "of a certain age".
When we get to peri-menopause then our hormones and metabolism are all over the place. Our calorie intake may be exactly the same as before but we gain weight and wonder what we're doing wrong. The answer is NOTHING. This is nature taking charge. To maintain the weight we need to up grade the amount of exercise we do, not neccesarily worry about dieting. We need to burn the calories faster! Also, I expect you will find that you are developing a 'Buddha Belly'? Well, there is a reason for that too. Women store their oestrogen in the fat of the stomach when it starts to deplete. So ladies, learn to love your tummy!
Look at it as something to wear with pride, you are going into the 'Wise Woman' stage of your life, highly revered in other cultures and something we maybe should try and encourage in our culture??? Think how sexy you would look belly dancing!
So, you are not alone, there are thousands of women all feeling the same and think they are the only ones thinking this way. We run workshops and it's amazing how women get really scared at this stage in their lives but end up laughing and sharing their experiences. SA and I are also ladies of a certain age which got us researching the menopause in the first place so we know how women are feeling lol.
Hope this has put your minds at rest re the weight gain.

Love and light

reikiangel

Thank you for your insight Reiki Angel - I am having the same problem.

I was told about a product which helped with the menopause called ladycare magnet - I also read some people who had used it had found it helped with weight loss...

I have got the point where I have to do something about the weight as it is getting too out of control!

Thank you for the advice, yes its weird how the weight sits around the tummy, i never had a tummy before, even after having two children.

It just amazes me when you see the film stars so slim and of that age!

Its so hard to keep weight off, its so easy to put it on.....

For me its more a health conscious matter, and i wnat to be as healthy as i can, i dont mind carrying a bit of weight, but at the moment on the grids, im overweight, this cannot be good for my health and its certainly not good for me self esteem.

But i will NOT give up because im sure i can loose a bit as time goes on.

Here's hoping.....
