What would you recommend to use on a post operative wound, once the sutures are removed, to minimize scaring and accelerate healing. namely wounds on joints.

You could use some Rosehip oil as a base oil and add 2 drops lavender and 1 drop of neroli to each 5 ml spoon of rosehip. Supposedly good for healing post surgery scar tissue.

Hi Blueheart

I'd also add a drop of vitamin E oil - just puncture the capsule and rub it in. Aloe vera gel and MSM cream used alternately will all help to heal the skn and reduce scarring. Also take vitamins A, C, E, selenium and zinc plus MSM taken orally for a month to help healing.

Wishing you the best of health

thank you binha, i assume that would be appropriate once the wound has healed sufficiently?

perhaps i should have added that my stitches only came out today, they are on the 2nd mcj (index finger) lower joint and on the elbow, so are more vulnerable as they are constantly moving and exposed. should i avoid using anything until the wound has healed completely?

I would apply it now, of course you do not apply any pressure when applying the oils, apply them very gently.

Here's an extract from 'The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy' by Salvatore Battaglia on essential fatty acids and wound healing.

"Recent research indicates that topically applied oils containing essential fatty acids will speed the wound healing process by assisting the formation of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins serve the wound healing process by increasing local blood supply, mediating leucocyte emigration into the wound and assisting the synthesis of granulation tissue".

You can take a traditional homeopathic remedy - Arnica pills for wound healing
it works wonders, but you never apply arnica cream to an open wound.

Very easy to help, by taping of small but energetic seeds like
the blackseed.
I sent a PM.

Hi blueheart,

Although is a few days after you've had your stitches out now, do have another recommendation for you - have sent you a PM on it.
