Hello and welcome Killarney.

Clearly stress seems to be the problem here. She needs to eliminate the stress she is under, plenty of vitamins and minerals too.

Breathing exercises and meditation would help her.

I'd would think it's important for her to see her GP in the first instance if it hasn't been diagnosed.

Your client needs to get her bloods checked via her GP.

Also I would go to see a trichologist - they are hair specialists who can do further investigation into the hair loss.

I suffered diffuse hair loss a few months after having a fever. The trichologist said my fever was enough to knock the hair cycle out of sync. Telogen Effluvium is what it is called, when it is diffuse, this means that your hair is shedding excessivly. We lose about 100 or so hairs per day but when you are shedding you lose much much more. I eventually lost almost a third of the thickness of my hair, but it stopped the very week the trichologist said it would. I had to get my iron levels up. I am still on high dose iron.

The thing is sometimes doctors will do blood tests and then if they are ok they just dont push any further, my first doc did this so i collected the hair out of the shower, the bedroom floor, out of my brush over the period of a week and took it in two carrier bags and asked if this hair loss was normal!!!!! He agreed and was shocked.

The tricholoist has told me that unless there is physical medical problem why someone is losing hair then we dont have to put up with it even thinning, there is a product on the market, which he prescribed to promote new hair growth for ladies who have shed through medication or even the menapause. I havent needed it but i did develop severe anxiety through this so encourage your client to see their GP, you cannot just put this down to stress without investigating further.

The trichologist i saw was called Ian Sallis, he has a salon in Hull and his trichology clinic, message me and i will give you the link to his site.

Hi Reiki-Yorks

That is a really interesting and helpful post. Thank you for the information. I know one can become despondant about losing so much hair and it's good to know something can be done about it.

Love and Light

Caroline

I have suffered from this myself and the first time blood tests showed very low iron stores so I was given supplements and it began to grow back.
I later suffered another episode although this time blood tests showed all was well, although my iron was 'borderline' and my B12 was low. I was also very stressed at the time and off work for a few weeks.
I did supplement and now a year later have about 4 inches of new hair growth which is almost twice as thick as the longer ends, so in my case it seemed to be a combination of vitamins and de-stressing.

I would agree, have a GP check and then look at lifestyle, nutrition etc

Has the client been tested for SLE (systemic Lupus) it can be a contributing factor for hair loss in woman.

Hi--I saw your question and had to respond...Definitely suggest that your client see a dermatologist, this could be the signs of Alopecia Areata. I got diagnosed with it last year with very similar circumstances. I have since got back most of my hair, but its thinner than it was before. There are steroid lotions/medications available that can help.
Also, I might even suggest taking prenatal vitamins. Biotin helps with hair and nails, and I took these in combination with the steroid therapy. At least the vitamins can't hurt 🙂
I've also heard that Omega 3 is great in addition to the prenatals...it helps the body with inflamation. If the client has asthma or allergies there are links between these and Alopecia.
