I read this article (about cyber bullying) and resonated with a key comment....

He was fixated on me because I presented myself confidently and I seemed to be very happy and for some reason that angered him.
That was a lightbulb moment for me and explained what was baffling me. I am upbeat, confident, content and am pretty skilled at not letting things get to me. I am also well liked except that, for some inexplicable reason, I do tend to get targeted at times in chat rooms (rarely on forums). I am outspoken but often I feel it is not about that but about who I am. Now I understand! The ones who have tried to bait me have all been unhappy people, i.e. generally of a miserable disposition.
Recently I started a feel good thread on a forum and used several celebratory emoticons. These emoticons were all erased by a mod there saying that it was hijacking (since I used my collection of emoticons from various sources). Yet it seemed not to be about that since I had pasted these emoticons on the forum before with no backlash. Her increasingly unbelievable justifications for her act made me feel it was time to leave - so I did but not without telling her that a techno expert deemed it ludicrous and an overreaction.
