RE: Male shaving
Times they are a changing????

RE: Male shaving
Yes unfortunately they are Dino but I am glad that my boys are growing up to be well mannered young men that I am immensely proud of. I think part of the problem these days is that parents have forgotten the art of parenting, all too many mothers work and don't have time for their children any more. My late husband was half French and half Italian and I can tell you that they know a thing or two about how to treat children. Children in their society matter ......not in this country........left to roam the streets and cause trouble.
Whatever happened to family values?

Dino said "Has anyone else noticed when men's hair grows long, there is a hippy peace, when men's hair is shaved short there are bully boys?"
That is a very sweeping statement! How can you possibly say that just because someone has a short haircut they are a bully boy? My husband keeps his hair short all the time as is it thinning on top and to keep it long would look ridiculous. It wouldn't help him with the manual job that he does as he spends so much of the day hot and sweaty. It suits him that way.
Loing hair may suit other men. My ex-husband had long hair and it suited him. Yours may suit you but to say that all men with short hairmust be acertain personality is total tosh and IMHO a very dangerous thing to do.
RE: Male shaving
Each to their own ways then - but be careful with the razer blade - more careful than Leonard Cohen might be, for example! 😀

Venetian..........is that really a picture of you??
Nah, it's some character from Lord of The Rings, but it was quite like me before Father Time had his way. 😉
RE: Male shaving
Hi Venetian
I used to like Leonard Cohen but what actually happened to him?????
Well, if you are anything like the picture, even if you are older, you must be a gorgeous looking man [&o]

RE: Male shaving
Since the thread has shifted into different - er - areas (and why not?). I just saw for the first time in decades photos of myself with hippie-long hair when I came back from India, and I'm starting to think, why not? I live in the SW of England and have seen quite a few guys (since this is a "New Age area")not in their youth who have pony-tails or what have you. So I'm thinking of just letting the whole lot grow again. 😉

RE: Male shaving
Venetian............I think that is a brilliant idea. My late husband always wore a pony tail. He was a classical pianist and actually looked like Beethoven.
I adore men with long hair...........love something to run my fingers through.......ooops!!!

RE: Male shaving
Last I heard, and I am sure nothing has changed, Leonard Cohen became a Buddhist and is living on a mountain as a recluse - I forget where but would guess the USA. He's been there for a quarter of a century now.
RE: Male shaving
Joan,
Thanks.
Our posts are crossing and I'm going offline now.
P.S. Sorry to hear about your husband.A pianist huh? I've never tried a pony-tail in my life but I guess you just let it grow in one place and cut it in the other - not exactly rocket science!

Oh Venetian I really do hope you are joking. I would be very hurt if you thought that.
Thank you for your kind words but as they say time is a great healer and I am getting on with my life now. He was a wonderful man and very talented and I miss him dearly but he was a lot older than me and I know he wouldn't want me to greive forever.

, no seriously.
but my view here(if it makes a difference as to how this thread has shifted topic
)
Nothing wrong with male shaving, i feel times are changing and that women prefer men now to be shaven.
well guys, if its what women want, listen to them, there you go !

My huge apologies. It was a silly comment as I was in a funny mood. The line is now edited out. 'Twas only a joke but I guess ... a bad one.

RE: Male shaving
Please do not apologise. It is probably me being over-sensitive.......I just didn't want anyone to think badly of me.
I can assure you I have a very wicked sense of humour when you get to know me.

RE: Male shaving
Actually - totally off-topic but what the heck since this seems like the thread to ask - has Cohen released anything in, say, the last 15 years, as I didn't follow his career? His best albums seemed to be his first and then he went downhill.
He's actually a better lyricist than anything and he was best at writing novels and poetry - but there was no money in it. He shifted to music almost purely for the money. His masterpiece, outside of his music, must be his first novel, "The Favourite Game". Recommended.

Crikey! I must be living in the dark ages.[&o]
I didn't know this practice was so popular. I thought it was reserved for super rich playboys with time and money on their hands and the need to be different.
I must say I prefer my man to look like one, not some half shawn pre-pubescent specimen.
That also goes for body hair. I love hairy chests and don't know why some want to shave it off and look all shiny.....erk!!
