i was wondering if anyone else experiences this, or knows what could be causing what i feel.

when i am walking , espeically prolonged ( my job involves this) i get this odd feeling that my hip joints are coming out of their sockets [&:]it subsides after a while and i'm left with a slight ache.

i've noticed this is becoming more and more frequent and in addition, i find trying to sit cross legged painful because of my hips.

any thoughts will be greatly appreciated 😀

warm wishes- calla lily x

RE: a weird sensation in hip joints

recommend you get yourself checked out by a systematic kinesiologist. sounds like somethings out of kilter somewhere.

RE: a weird sensation in hip joints

Hi Calla Lilly, sorry you're in pain. Is the pain at the front of your hips (the sockets are quite deep to the groin) or the sides?

hi sharon [sm=wave.gif]

the pain is on the sides of my hips, i've been working today and i didn't feel the sensation but i've got a dull ache now, not enough to cause me a lot of discomfort but enough to let me know its there if you know what i mean!

northenlights, would you mind explaining to mehow a systematic kinesiologistworks please? 😀

thank you both for your replies [sm=1kis.gif]

RE: a weird sensation in hip joints

Hey, Calla Lilly, if the pain is on the sides of the hips.......it's quite likely to be muscular - as I said the sockets themselves are much more central to the groin. It's difficult to suggest what to do without seeing you. I'd advise going to someone who can look atyour gait (how you walk). In my experience, when clients start to become aware of their gait pattern, and correct it, pain often goes away. Sometimes a shoe insert helps, but you would need to see someone, a podiatrist or a physio for example.
Hope you sort it,
Sharonxx

RE: a weird sensation in hip joints

many thanks for your reply and advice sharon [sm=1kis.gif], i agree with you that it could well be muscular as i was thinking what i could liken the pain to and it feels like the muscular pain you get when you have the flu [:'(].

i will get my gait checked over as you suggested - would i have to go through my doctor in order to be referred to a physio/podiatrist?

thanks once again for your help [sm=hug.gif]

Yes if you wanted to go through the NHS - ni if you went privately - you could refer yourself.
Good Luck,

RE: a weird sensation in hip joints

I would offer that the 3 most likely causes are:

  • Muscular hip if deep in buttock (also see below)
  • Progressed to joint capsule or degeration of hip it's self, if in groin.
  • Sacroilliac joint if deep in pelvis, although these can produce a variety of other symptoms.
  • Referred pain & muscle spasm from low lumbar spine if local to area, radiating around pelvic brim or can be deep in buttock also.

I would suggest you see an osteopath, as it's the sort of problem they deal withon a regular basis.

Andrew.
