ive got this problem that keeps coming back. ive been to the hospital quite a few times but test results keep coming back saying im totaly fine:
I sometimes get woken up buy my heart racing for no reason, i feel a bit queezy, i sometimes have a pain in my upper back and sort of a pain in my chest.I can also feel my heart beating in my chest, could i be having a sort of heart attack? is there such a thing?
Also sometimes after eating i get palpertations and what feels like the odd skipped heart beat. Ive been to my doctor and he just says im fine. Now obviously im not fine as im scared that i have some sort of heart problem! im only 32
I even bought a heart rate moniter because im that worried about it.
I also thought it is some sort of gastric problem, but it doesnt seam to be linked to anything, like change in diet
This problem is driving me crazy with worry as just when i think it has gone away it comes back again.
I know that my resting BPM is 70 which is techincaly fine but being woken up suddenly with a BPM of 100+ is pretty scary<p> can anyone point me in the right direction as to what it might be as my doctor isnt being much help
RE: Chest Pains
Hi Pyro
I'm sure that Doc is basicaly right in that you are medically safe. Of course, it sounds like you are really worrying about what's going on here. It's amazing what our bodies can learn to do.. even stuff like this that you don't want. Quite anaccomplishment...
Can I ask you some questions?
1. When did it start? 2. When is it worse? 3. When is it better? 4. What have you done that helps improve things?
5. What was going on in your life when you first became aware of this problem?
6. If you were to imagine a purpose for this problem, what would that be?
RE: Chest Pains
It started about a year ago. i sometimes go a month with no problem and then it returns out of the blue.
I was signed off work last year because of stress, but i have a new job now that is no way as stressful so i dont think its stress related, but maybe im wrong.
RE: Chest Pains
Hi
Ok, thanks. There may be some link behind all of this. Some 'thinking' pattern, probably long overlooked.. but there it lies.. like a seed waiting for the right conditions... Nothing wrong, but can lead you into a right mess if it gets going....
Can I explore how you know how to do stress? I mean, everyone's different, aren't they?
What was going on, and what thinking did you do, that led thesituation to seem unmanageable to you?
RE: Chest Pains
I have physical symptoms dont think its a mind thing.
I also get a pounding in my stomach. I can actually see pulsating..
RE: Chest Pains
Happened again last night:
Got woken up with chest pounding, feeling really hot and swetty. Slight tingling in my hands..
Has anyone had stuff like this happen to them ?
RE: Chest Pains
hi i have been through what you are experiencing and it is awful, my gp gave me propanolol tablets to try and ease my anxiety, my heart stopped racing but other symptoms stayed!my friend told me about a book called self help for your nerves by dr claire weeks . this book really helped. she tells you that it is your nerves releasing too much adrenaline and they trick you into thinking that your symptoms aregoing to get worse when actually they wont , the book gives you practical advice and how to recognise an attack and how to cope with it .it is so hard to imagine that stress and anxiety can make these terrible symptoms. now i know when an attack will occur i cope and they seem to get less and less.
i hope you feel better soon
