Hi all, have recently (2 weeks ago) had a thyroglossal cyst that was infected removed from my neck. There is a scar about 3 inches long acrooss my neck from the surgery, which I am fine with, but underneath the scar there is a still a large lump of tissue, a little thicker than a marker pen, about an inch and a half, that follows the length of the scar. Is this something that will go away over time or something that will be there permenantly, it's bigger than the cyst that was there in the first place. Is this just scar issue? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi I had a thyroglossal cyst removed in January 2006 I was lucky in that mine wasn't infected and was a straight forward removal. They closed the scar with 10 staples and I had them removed a week later at my local surgery, 3 weeks after the operation I was discharged by the hospital.

Thinking back after the staples were removed where the scar was it was as if 2 pieces of pasty had be put together, gradually it flatten out. Feeling it now it's just a small indent that no one notices apart from me because I know it's there.

Are you due to see your doctor or go to the hospital soon if not may be to help ease your mind it may be an idea to make an appointment with your doctor. I don't think it is anything to worry about but saying that I know what it is like and I'd get a medical opinion.

If you want to PM me please do

Cis
