i had a severe headache yesterday at work which was that bad that i vomited. When it started i couldnt see right, my vision wasnt blurred...i could see but i wasnt taking it in. I've had a headache like this only twice before, once was during an exam which i had to leave about 2 years ago and the other was when i got hit by a car and i was in shock. Its the affect it has on my vision that worries me because i start to panic. is this normal when you have a bad headache?
Hi dvid,
Your headache sound as if it has some elements of a migraine. Migraines can can be brought on by a variety of different causes, some unknown, but hunger, shock, diet -(chocolate, cheese)can trigger an episode in some people. Migraine can be very distressing, as alongside head pain, visual disturbance, such as prism type, bright lights, colours, also numbness or tingling. If you are worried, please check with your doctor who can put your mind at ease. There are various over the counter medications for migraine also, but as this, hopefully is a one-off event you will not need to buy any. Some peple find that lying in a darkened room alleviates a migraine.
I hope that this is useful, but please do contact your doctor if you have any other episodes,
Jenny
