Sorry about the very dodgy title of this thread but i had no idea what to call it. Right, where do i start. I have recently (last 3 - 4 weeks) had a viral infection that had me in hospital for a week constantly being sick. They could never but a name to what I had but said even viral gastroentiritis (sorry about spelling) clears up much sooner than the symptoms were lasting for me. Anyhow that is all cleared up and i am fine now. Back to my usual self.

Only I have noticed (this started a month back too) that i am seeing white blobs moving out of the corner of my eye. I did think i was seeing "orbs" or "spirit lights" even to the point of saying Thank You each time i saw one. Then i realied it was something in or on my eye!!! (what a wally i hear you say!) It is literally like something floating past my eye but right in the far outer corners. it happens more in my left but does occur in my right eye. The blobs i call them can float upwards, and downwards, something they appear and disappear, but never last longer than about 2 seconds or so. I dont have any pain in my eye or discomfort.

I went to see my optician on Friday last week. She tested for everything. My sight hasnt changed since last year, she even put drops in my eye that she warned would give me blurred vision for about 6 hours, dilate my pupil so that she could see right into the back of my eye. She said sometimes if people see "flashes" of light this can be the retina coming away. But she did the test and reassured me all was fine with my eyes. She tested for glaucoma and that was fine too.

So for a second opinion i went to my doctors this morning for his view, he didnt seem concerned and quite happy to go with the view of the optician. he said it could be linked to my viral infection which has left me very congested too.

So, has anyone else had this or know anyone who has. Its not ruining my life (yet!) as it can happen, then go and not occur for hours again. It just appears out of the corner of my eye. I am not imagining things, my eyes are clean and i know its not spirit lights!!

Any help would be much appreciated, but please dont scare me to death ok!

Hya,

I've had them too, usually before a migraine. Are you having headaches?

Take care.

Hi
Thank you both for your replies.

My "white blobs in eyes" seem to be getting disappearing, they still occur but i have noticed a considerable decline in them appearing. No i havent been getting headaches but i have spent a month getting over a viral infection so it could be linked to that.

A friend of mine found some information on the internet to do eye exercises to look up, down, left and right and i have been doing that when i remember, and it seems to have helped - so thanks Tracy!!

Like I said, not painful but just sooooooooooo annoying!

Its a pleasure ! The internet can be quite harmful sometimes and scary when it comes to diagnosing but as the site recommended exercises, it was always worth a try rather than nothing. So glad it worked and the more you continue, am sure it will dwindle in time.

I think I have the same

Have the blobs returned? I have had this for some time and think I have a brain tumor - too afraid to have it checked out. Some days they happen once or twice, other days many times. Sometimes they are slow-moving down and repeat a few times other times they move real fast. The eye doctor keeps saying they are floaters but I am sure they are not. It looks more like an electrical thing. Most of the time it happens if I am looking at the tv or something bright with the rest of the room dark. Or when I just sit down. i am also having alot of head pressure after I stand up or if I turn my head a certain direction. Seems to be worse when I haven't eaten for a while.

White Blobs in eyes

Hi, I just thought I would post re. white blobs in eyes. I initially only used to get this problem prior to a migraine. Then over time, it became more frequent until it just became permanent. I had may doctor/hospital appointments which resulted in nothing, I was just told it was migraineal. I still wasn't sure as if it was migraineal I felt it would not be permanently there. It is like lots of white movements in the eye, almost like bacteria whizzing aournd on a microscope or a TV that isn't tuned in. Eventually, I paid private and saw a very good consultant who new exactly what it was. It's very rare and called "blue field entoscopy". Normally, people can only see these movements in the eye if they stare into a blue sky on a mountain or above clouds on an aeroplane. The good news is that is isn't anything serious, bad new - I'm stuck with it.
Thought this might help you all with the same, as it's difficult to diagnose and not many specialists know about it. Look on line, you will see very little comes up.
Hope this helps
🙂

I read here about white blobs in the eyes, my next door neighbour had this problem come on after having an eye operation 2 years ago.
However she has just had it sorted out at the new Norwich Hospital only last week, and her eyes are now fine without the white blobs.
The treatment she had of late was a simple Out Patient visit of 2 hours, where she had some kind of low powered electric gadget put on her head, and on the front of her eyes.
The treatment did'nt hurt, just a slight tingle was felt, and she is so pleased with the outcome of her Hospital visit.
