AAAARGGGGHHHHHHH!
I am in real agony, and have these tiny little ulcers on the tip and sides of my tongue. It started as a sore throat, and now has moved to my tongue. My tongue feels like it's been burnt and you know when you have eaten a really hot chilli and drank something really hot, you seem to "lose the top layer" - well, that's how it feels all the time. It hurts to eat, to talk and it's generally getting annoying now!
I went to the Dr's today, who said it was a "virus" (isn't that what they say when they don't know what's wrong?) and said that I should take some painkillers, and maybe get a throat spray... USEFUL!
Anyone any herbal or store cupboard remedies??
Hellllpppp!
This Pixie isn't smiling anymore!

Oh Dipti how awful - try the old classic - warm salt water mouth rinse (just make sure you don't swallow it - uck!).
Sending love to help you feel better xx
Hey Tweeacs,
I did a search, but couldn't see any remedies! My husband is feeling a bit ill, so I guess Man-Flu is clouding any sympathy for me!:(
I'm going to sleep and will try Reiki-ing my tongue.... bit tricky but I'll give it a go!!
Night,
Dx
Warm salt water.... ok, i'll give that a whirl now!!
Am off! Thanks Tiggerbabe xx
Hope you are feeling better by now Dip.
Oh dear, sounds painful!
My daughter (who is a toddler) had a similar condition, it was awful. She had ulcers on her tongue and the insides of her cheeks, her gums were sore and bleeding, and she didn't eat for nearly a week. Apart from an antiviral and an antibiotic, she was also given "Adcortyl in Orabase paste", which is a paste which coats the mouth ulcers and makes them less painful. You can buy it at the pharmacy.
Dip, how unpleasant for you.
Many problems with the tongue and gums are nutrition-related. Especially Vit B (can't recall which one but always take a full complex anyway) for tongue, and Vit C for gums.
Try taking about 5 times the RDA of each morning and afternoon for a while.
Note ... you can increase dosage of C till you bowels get a bit loose ... then back off a bit!
NB if you are a smoker it's said you need 500 mg of vit C for every fag you smoke to avoid gum degeneration and eventual teeth loss!
Burning - harmful Fire
Ulcers - harmful Dryness
if a swelling also, adding harmful Dumpness
There's an acupuncture scheme for that:
Dampness---> Wind--->Heat: Fire, Dryness down, Wind, Cold up,
Light + Darkness ctrl
I always found with mouth ulcers was that creams, gels and mouth washes made them worse. Unless, you can get antibiotics or something from the doctor, I would leave them alone. Often oral treatments simply aggrevate the condition, prventing it from clearing up sooner.
i can empathise with you, my tongue has them down one side, when i eat and talk it feels like my tongue is massive. i am trying bonjela at the moment but will try warm salty water before i go to bed.
