Hi all

the docs found a lump in my mums neck and said it didnt look good..she went for a CT scan but they said it was inconclusive and would need to remove the lump..its right on her jawline and quite big...they said at the least its a cyst or the worst could be a lymph tumour...the CT scan was so useless it didnt even show the lymph gland..the doc now wants to remove it but my mums not sure if this is the best course of action because if it is cancerous she has heard it could even spread the cancer more by removing the tumour.

we would be really grateful for any advice on this about other opitions or things the docs could do first to find out what it is before operating.

any advice greatly appreciated

love

anna

RE: Lump in neck?

Hi Anna

I also recently found a lump in my neck (above the collar bone/thyroid area) and have been diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. To confirm this I asked for a fine needle biopsy before removal, this confirmed that cancerous cells were present. I have chosen to follow a natural nutrition route rather than surgery and so far things are going well and I feel fine. Your mum should ask for a biopsy first to confirm exactly what the lump is before it is removed and possibly disturbed.

hope this helps

A x

Hi Chatty Natty

Thanks for the reply.Sorry you havent been well glad your diet change is going well.Would it be ok to have some more details about how you've changed your diet?

My friend researched this a while ago and a nutrtionist told her to cut out all carbohydrates, except quinoa and millet which had been soaked overnight and also to cut out sugar as apparently it feeds cancer..also she said to only use cold pressed oils or to cook in butter as oils which have been extracted by other means couldnt be broken down by the body.

Be interested to know what changes you've made?

My mum had the same test as you too but the doc said it was inconclusive and so wants her to have the whole thing taken out to be fully analysed so thats why she's confused about what to do...

Thanks for your reply

Love

Anna

RE: Lump in neck?

5 years ago, I had a small lump above my collar bone that I didn't do anything about, then all of a sudden it grew to a golf ball size. The doctor did an ultrasound, and it showed that it was a tumor. They were going to do a biopsy, but I can't remember why we just went ahead and had surgery. I was still in high school at the time. The tumor was in the left side of my thyroid gland, so they took that half out completely, and it was cut up into five pieces and given to five different people to do tests to see if there were cancer cells. luckily there weren't any, but it sure did scare the hell out of me!

So far my thyroid hormone is normal, but with only half of my thyroid gland I'm at risk of having hypothyroidism.

This thread just made me wonder if there was something better I could have done for myself. A way to get rid of the tumor without leaving myself with a scar on my neck, half a body part and at risk for health problems.
