could anyone tell me if there is any help for tinitus out there. My dad (age 68) has it which was brought on by an ear infection and has been told by docs it wont go away. Could EFT or hypnotherapy work. we live in the north east. any recommendations around newcastle way?
thanks in advance
RE: help for Tinitus
Either of those may well help, but it is a physiological problem.
I've had this myself and resolved it. If your do a Forum Search on 'Tinnitus' it will show various THreads on the subject.
Or just have a browse thru the Threads in Head & Neck Problems.

RE: help for Tinitus
My Dad has bilateral tinitus and also has very little head movement. So I know with his that he is so tight that pressure is building up in that whole area.
I remember being told at Hypnotherapy College that some tinitus is of psychological origin. In other words, what is it that they don't want to hear. I have had a patient who was hard of hearing come to me for hypnotherapy and once he was in trance he could hear everything I said opposed to me shouting at him before trance. It just depends. If it is psychological then the symptom can be manupulated with EFT, NLP or Hypno.. but remember that these only change the symptom they don't treat the cause unless you are prepared to pay out for lots of treatment to include conselling etc.
Trigger Points on the SCM, hyoid and splenius muscles can create ringing in the ears. If you have access to the Travel and Simons Trigger Point manual, or search the web you will find info on that from them.
Like Adrew says.. it is usually phsiological... however some folks have had relief with alternative methods... never give up.
The other thing you might want to try is hopi ear candling... just never do hopi on perforated ear drums and it is ok to do after an infection has cleared, it's worth a bash.
best wishes
