Good evening everybody,

I recently have been to the dentist and had my two front teeth taken out. He told me the cost of a bridge was £ 3000 and that i had another option to go abroad and have them cheaper. So i wonder if anybody could guide me where abroad to go with more information please. Thank you.

Three thousand seems a bit steep. Our family are on a dental plan (insurance) with our local dentist which costs £20 per month (for 3 of us). My husband recently had his two front teeth replaced with a peg and bridge thingy (!), and it was covered by the plan. I have a friend who recently had dental work done in Poland, but he wasn't particularly happy about no aftercare and came home in quite a bit of pain. He is OK now, but I don't think he'll go back.

:)£3,000 seemed a lot to me as well, and I wonder if this is because you - and presumably your dentist - are in London.

It might pay you to 'shop around' within the UK a bit, and see if, for a shorter journey, you could improve on that price which, presumably, is for private treatment?

I put 'costs dental work' into Google UK, and there are over a million results:

<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href=" http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=costs+dental+work&btnG=Google+Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB "> http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=costs+dental+work&btnG=Google+Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB
[which it won't let me turn into a 'hidden link' :(]

I had a look at the one at the top of the list:

<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href=" http://www.whatprice.co.uk/dentist/nhs-private-prices.html "> http://www.whatprice.co.uk/dentist/nhs-private-prices.html

where I put your brief details of location and price into their search fields, with 'bridge two front teeth', and was slightly surprised to get a page which read:

Thank you for your time, without your input this project would not be possible. Your contribution will appear on this website in the next few days.

Oops! LOL! I then realised they were asking for input, not providing answers 😉

I'd suggest you do quite a bit of research, but I'm afraid I have no advice at all to offer on where you might go abroad. Best of luck!

Hi Holistic and Jabba hut, thank you for your replies. Yes i am based in London and so my dentist. I did ask him about more information about going abroad but he was not helpful. I try using google like you suggested.

Had another thought last night. We once had a visitor staying with us from Canada. Whilst staying with us, he had an accident with a golf club - he stood too close to a fellow golfer when they were teeing off! He lost a front tooth and a pre-molar. There were no emergency dentists on duty, so he was sent to a local hospital duty dentist who patched him up. He was then referred onto the School of Dentistry at an Edinburgh hospital. He didn't pay anything. Might be worth contacting a similar department at a teaching hospital in London - they may know of someone working in the area who would charge a more reasonable fee!

Hi <a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="learningtherapies07">learningtherapies07,

I recently returned from having my dental treatment in Hungary. It might be worth having a look at this clinic. [url]Kreativ Dental[/url]
The clinic is amazing and the work I've had done is great. It saved me a fair bit of money as there was no way I could afford to have it done in London.

Good luck, hope it all goes well for you

HANNAH

bridegwork

Maybe it would be worth exploring whether you could get referred to a dentist outside London - or if you have friends / family living in other parts of the UK.

For example in South West Wales average prices for bridges [per tooth] are around £300 - £500. It also depends on the type of bridge and whether they were quoting for an implant as well etc. But do have a look around in the UK before going abroad - if something goes wrong at least you don't have to take a flight to get it fixed!

Kind regards
JJ

I am lucky enough to have a fab NHS dentist - I had a bridge done with 3 teeth a while ago - approx 7 years for less than £200. A very good friend of mine is currently getting his dental treatment done in Poland - about one tenth of going private here. Cheap flights and hotels and a holiday too!
