At the end of last year and beginning fo this year I had tonsillitus.I was put on 2 courses of antibiotics and, since then,I have constantly had phlegm in my throat,Salt water gargles don't help, and neither lozenges.
Also,I'm thinking this might be linked, but one nostril is almost constantly blocked,I try to blow, nothing comes out.
Any help will be greatly appreciated 😉

My husband suffers with this and was referred to an ENT specialist.

After a scan it was found that he had a lot of polyps in his nasal passages that meant it was difficult to get rid of mucus by blowing his nose. I know it doesn't sound too nice, but what is happening is that it just drips down the back of his throat and he has to constantly clear it.

Polyps are quite easy to remove and it is a routine op, so it might be worth checking out if this is what is happening in your case.

You may have sinus infection which has not cleared up from your tonsillitis problem - I suggest you see your GP and ask. S/he will be able to tell you and treat it if necessary.

There are other possibilities which may be helpful, but this should be your first port of call. Make sure you are eating a diet rich in fruit and vegetables with wholegrain cereals, and low fat proteins, avoiding fast and processed foods, some oily fish each week.

This is a great example treating effects and not causes. Tonsils are like expansion vessels in the drainage from the head back to the core of the body. Henry Lindlahr describes tonsilectomy (removing them) as being like removing the sewage pipes from the house just because they are blocked. To which I would add; just as somebody tries to flush the toilet.

Drainage from the head passes through narrow and often compromised channels, when waste backs up the tonsils protect the brain by holding the muck. Where muck accumulates, bacteria follow. Kill the bacteria (antibiotics) and the waste remains, moreover the natural process of which bacteria are a part has been thwarted - they have an actual role in the healing process. So now the patient has been 'cured', but is left with the not minor inconvenience of a toxic head - QED

Believe it or not, constant sinusitis and mucus problems are the better outcome, I have seen several instances of chronic CFS/ME problems following antibiotics for upper respiratory and ENT problems. After the antibiotics may come glandular fever, perhaps treated by antivirals. It is known that EBV is often followed by CFS, one has to ask what the body is trying to do when expressing glandular fever, and what role the medical treatment may have in driving the problem even further north.

This is all general conceptual info only, and most certainly NOT advice, but the next round of treatment, if it does not get to grips with the undelying problem may drive the problem higher, deeper, and to more important organs still. Once you get into the head there is not much higher or more important you can get. For more info see 'Herings law of cure'.

Thus in any constitutional treatment approach I would expect a resurgence of the inflammatory processes, perhaps in a differnet guise, for example fever, bronchitis etc. The body sometimes has another go spontaneously, or else treatment may provoke it. Supportive measures must be in place to allow the body to deal with the situation without getting stuck as it may have been earlier. Either way, palliative measures and antibiotics buy time on the credit card, so to speak, sooner or later it has to be paid back, The constant phlegm is like a 'monthly statement of arrears'.

Polyps might well form, but again, they are to nature a solution and not a problem, like growing an extra set of tonsils to try and relieve pressure and toxins.

So treatment involves rebuilding the internal strength and vitality of the body to tackle the underlying problem once more, and most definitely clearance of the channels of waste so that the strain is not placed so heavily onto the tonsils this time - poor things are only trying to help!

By the way, these are actual physical channels I am referring to, and they must be kept physically patent from top of head all the way to the outside via bowel and bladder. It also means support during the crisis that may follow to keep it safe.

Hence it is always better to check in with a suitable practitioner, and be sure they understand the constitutional background to the problem and the healing crisis. Going for palliation may tend to make things even more problematic, or at least make it harder to unravel later on.

As said, this is not specific advice, just a description of a well-observed set of patterns. However, I'm sure you would expect nothing less of a natural-healing forum?

Hello SS,

Just to add, it may also be worthwhile laying off the dairy products whilst you are feeling like this as dairy is a mucous forming food, and whilst it may not be the cause of the problem, it may be contributing to it at this time, and anything that helps is worth a try.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
