just to share this with u, if u r a fellow sufferer.

i recently discovered the migraine clinic in london and went for a consultation. interesting info - although they were not really that able to directly help me.

quick background after seeing an osteopath for about 10 years, also trying, accupuncture, sports massage, reflexology, kineseology (sorry on spelling..) food intolerance testing, hair analysis, and other stuff no one had told me this, that as i am a 'bendy' type of person, ie i have very flexible joints that my muscles and ligaments are therefore not very strong and have to try harder to support my neck thereby putting more strain on them. which can bring on headaches and migraines! apparently a very high proportion of hyperflexible people get migraines and headaches. the advice was to do yoga and pilates to try to strenghten them. low and behold at my first yoga class the lady said i was very flexible and that flexibility naturally is -v- strength!

Hi vicki;)

Wow - thanks for the information, I have to say I read it with interest. I am indeed a fellow migraine sufferer, as is my Mum and other female family members!

I also have dibilitating migraines occasionally. I used to have them all the time but I have been using a prescription called MIDRIN and apparantly the way it works is, at the first sign of your migraine (vision interuptions, numbness, etc.) you take two pills and then one every hour after until you feel better. This trains your brain to stop the process of the migraine and eventually it reduces the frequency of the migraines. I used to have them at least once or twice a month. Now I have maybe one a year. Also, ice at the base of the skull is very helpful. Good Luck. [sm=dogrun.gif]

Hi

Try purchasing a crystal pendant - Lapis Lazuli - it works wonders for migraines and negates my need to take medication.

Hi Vicki,

Your post was so interesting. I do yoga and surpise myself at my flexibility, despite being a little overweight!! I find yoga good for preventative onsets on migraines. Hope I am not jumping in here but I was on combined pill after going "natural for 4 years". I got migraines a week before each period. Told my doc and he said it was normal that some women get "headaches"! I asked him if he ever had a migraine, well he couldn't reply. In the end I went on mini pill. I still get the odd migraine but think its down to lack of sleep, going long hours without food etc.

In reply to Serendtipity72, I like crystals but don;t know much about them but I do find green aventurine is good when you have a headache.

Vicki, hope you can manage your migraines and hopefully eliminate them.

Love & blessings,

Rachel.

Interesting post. Hypermobility is a great deal more common than people may think. Unfortunately it can be hard to diagnose due to muscle tightening up to stabalise the joint making it seem stiff. There is a whole community of hypermobiles out their!

Luckily its starting to become a bit more recognised and one of the leading consultants in this area estimated that around 20% of the popluation are hypermobile to a certain degree
