I thought I had this problem beat, but I am suffering again. I had lots of good advice from members on this site.
The problem is I am still getting lots of trapped gas and it is really painful at times. I often feel bloated at night and I get a pain shooting into my left side/breast area. I was very concerned about this and I had an Electrom Beam tomography scan to check my heart out. I was given the all clear by the clinic in regards to chest pain but I am still getting the shooting pains.
I think I can trace this problem back to a bout of stomach flu about 20 months ago and I have had reoccuring bouts since then. I have stopped milk, coffee, from my diet and I have reduced the amount of bread in my diet. I have been taking camomile and peppermint tea. I don't drink beer or spirits.
I notice sometimes that once I pass a lot of gas (sorry) I still have this bloated feeling, I am not sure if I am being too sensitive about this but it plays on my mind.
Does any one know of any exercises that will aid me. The worrying thing is that in an effort to reduce the amount of gas building up I am cutting back or avoiding food that is full of fibre.....not the answer but the pain is intense at times.
I am not sure if this is linked to I.B.S as I have many of these syptoms.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Oggy:(
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Sounds like the dreaded candida, of which I've prattled on about elsewhere on other threads on these pages. And yes it's likely to make you feel hypersensitive as well. [:@]
Cut out sugars for starters & I mean all sugars. There are very few that don't get broken down to glucose & I shouldn't bother with artificial sweetners either - they're just likely to overload a struggling system with unnecessay toxins.
[:'(]
Then see how you feel - probably lousy for a while (means it's working!).
Most likely underlying problem is food/environmental sensitivities/allergies. If you don't find resolution or my other rantings on the subject - feel free to chase me up on that one.
RE: Trapped Gas....again
I cut out wheat (going along with the sugar theorgy) this made a huge difference for me, I suffer from really bad heart burn & bloating & dredded trapped wind. I also found that a cup of normal milky tea with 2 sugars, helped greatly, but isn't any good if you cut out sugar.
When I started getting the trapped wind pain, I was a teenager, and no doctor or test could explain what was going on. I noticed after a couple of years that the pain came on at the worst possible moments, when I was on a date, in a race, fun day out. I finally put it down to nervous indigestions & I think when my adrenalin increased over a period of time, that was when the pain happened. Don't know if this is of any help, but you may noticed something similar.
Pain on the left is always really alarming, but remember your stomach is there too.
Hope you find something that works for you too.
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Hi, I just read of your difficulty.
You might try some charcoal biscuits [Boots & other similar outlets stock them]. I guess that massive diet shifts may only confuse your system & awaken some other dormant form of bodily irritation.
Most wind is swallowed with our food. The baked beans type of thing is really only taken notice of in Vaudeville Theatres.
Good luck
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Hi
Cutting out sugars as already suggested here, a toxin build up can cause your symptoms.
I would suggest Activated Charcoal tablets, often used to support the body's cleansing and detoxification mechanisms. It may also help the body's efforts to expel intestinal gas. You could also consider doing a cleanse to clear the toxins which many people find really helps.
Take organic ones which are not chemically based. All the products I take are acid soluble by your stomach so they don’t go straight through your system like lots of other products can do. Find products which are tested to the highest standards in the world for active ingredients and the right potency.
Many competitors health products use synthetic ingredients and are poorly absorbed and assimilated by the body. They may also have low levels of active ingredients and can be full of sugar.
Hope this has been helpful

RE: Trapped Gas....again
Hello All,
thanks for your support. I am trying to take some of this good advice. I am having real trouble trying to cut sugar from my diet, I never thought it would be so hard as everything has sugar in it. I will try to eat slower so that I don't take so much air down with my food. I have tried the charcoal tablets before and I found that they did not help too much although at the time I did have a really painful episode I.B.S + wind.
I guess I will have to keep trying to find something that works for me. I really feel that all these problems stem from a awful dose of stomach flu I had about 18 months ago. I felt so rough for about 8 days and only slowly got back to normal. I had repeat attacks a couple of times and my normally robust stomach has been suffering ever since. The intense cramping and shooting chest pain are the worst but once the gas is released it feels slightly better.
My GP perscribed a drug called Mebeverine 135mg which again did not really seem to treat the symptoms. I had what I assume was I.B.S as my stools were loose followed by a day of constipation this cycle repeated itself for a couple of weeks. I was very low during this whole period and I decided that the chest pain needed investigation so I booked myself in for a Electron beam tomography scan on my heart which came back clear and fine.
This sort of brings me round full circle as I am still suffering with all of these symptoms to some lesser or greater degree. I try to remain positive as I want to get through this and get my life back.
Thank you for your support andgood wishes. I will be grateful for any suggestions and advice.
Yours as always
Oggy
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Hi Oggy
Mebeverine! - I know it well.
My doctor prescribed that for IBS and it was absolutely useless. Suppose that's a bit harsh but it certainly didn't help much. I suffered such severe pain and bloating (and wind too) that I was a complete wreck whenever I had an IBS attack.
I'm pleased to say that I have been taking Aloe Vera gel on a regular basis since December 2002 and have not had a bout of IBS, or it's sister symptoms, since then.
If you want to try this please use a good quality product. It's only the inner leaf that is beneficial to us and which contains 98 vits, mins and enzymes. The outer leaf (which a lot of companies use, proudly announcing 'whole leaf' gel) is of no use to us at all and in fact our bodies get rid of it asap (it passes straight through and can upset the stomach in the process).
I get mine from Forever Living Products and they have a 60 day satisfaction money back guarantee - which is great (you don't get that from Boots or Holland & Barrett!). A web search will find their head office address.
Hope you feel better real soon - I commiserate with you and am sending positive energy your way.
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Mebeverine
Is an antispasmodic - which is intended to reduce muscular spasm of the gut wall. IBS typically presents with spasm of the sigmoid colon (lower left abdomen) &/or the caecal area (lower right abdomen). [:@]
These are the symptoms & not the cause - at best Mebeverine is only likely to treat the symptoms.
If it's still a problem, then email me & I'll try & find a professional colleague in your area that may be able to help.
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Sorry I've not got back to you sooner.
There's a bit more than gas that's hit my fan recently.
For sugar craving you could try chromium (usually picolonate) from any decent health food shop. If it's not improving add vanadium.
I did write a whole lot of stuff on this issue, but I suspet most of it was on the infamous 'Bugs Inside' thread that went AWOL.
You might find some fragments on other threads, but I'll have to psych myself up again to redo the whole jollopy.
RE: Trapped Gas....again
Have you considered colonic hydrotherapy?
