I've heard that fish oils are good for reducing belly fat. Is this correct and can anyone recommend a good one - I prefer liquids to tablets. I did get one off a company but when I received it - said on the back from a source of soya .
I've seen a lot of salmon oil supplements around - has anyone any experience of these and would these do the same or is it "fish oils" that you need.
Someone else said that if certain "things" weren't removed they could cause weight gain and fat around the hips. Any one help?
I'm not sure I'd recommend relying on tablets or liquids of fish oils to lose fat, I'd say you're best off sticking to the traditional eat healthy and exercise well choices for fat loss.
As for fish oil supplements, I use Forever Living Arctic C Super Omega 3, but I don't regard it as anything to do with weight gain or weight loss, it's good for my brain and my skin, and I don't eat much fish here so that's why I take it! Although it is a tablet, but I don't have any trouble, just swallow with water 🙂
I can't quote anything, but the fact that something has been put in to stop gaining weight around the hips seems ridiculous to me.. And unless it's some new thing that's been invented I don't think it would be able to target solely the hips for weight gain.
So all in all, if you're going for weight loss, don't bother, save your money and buy some fruit and jogging clothes, but if you don't eat much fish then by all means supplement with fish oils, as I said they are good for cognitive health (or so I'm lead to believe..).
I do eat healthy and exercise - just could do with losing a bit still around the tummy and I've read so many articles that say fish oils help to reduce that stubborn fat around the middle that people get.
My diet is very very clean with tons of water - and exercise is every day. I find almonds help to reduce the tummy but was looking for an alternative - plus I know fish oils are good for other things too. I've had a bad year this year and have felt down of late and that was another reason for trying it - to lift my mood.

Ah that now makes sense. Fish oils have been very useful in improving mood, especially those that are high in EPA, like this one, but there others (google high EPA fish oil). Make sure that what you take is properly filtered - it will be expensive compared to what is available in the chemist or supermarket - to remove the pollutants (heavy metals, PCBs and the like).
As Nick says using them as a weight-loss aid is unlikely to work. They will help reduce inflammation and improve cell function throughout the body though. If you are looking to reduce stomach/belly fat then these books (1st 3 books) are specifically for that and gives you all you need to know ;). Christmas stocking presents maybe? You can also see some basic facts on her .
Thanks Caroline - helpful info - the books sound like a good buy and that is what I wanted a filtered fish oil - can y ou recommend a liquid that is the same - better taking liquids than tablets.
People have said that fish oils burn fat and speed up metabolism - is that correct.
Years ago I took flax oil and that seemed to reduce the tummy.
