Hi im a 28 year old male and i have never been able to burp. Occasionally one tiny burp will slip out but its never intentional. Instead i get these low grumbles in my lower throat area. Sounds like my stomach is rumbling except in my throat. Its made worse by drinking anything carbonated and gassy type foods like mexican. During its worst times it often causes me to dry heave and have great stomach pains
any ideas??

RE: Cant Burp
Hey guys!
Add another one to the list... I can't burp either Also thought I was just weird. Cool that there's more of us (I guess...though I dont wish this upon anyone)...And I know very well the gurgles...urgh. So frustrating/uncomfortable/embarassing. Does it happen to you guys that you can't talk all of a sudden because your chest kind of convulses? From reading these posts, I suppose I fall into the problem with a muscle category. Well anyway...
I was wondering if anyone knows any home remedies for this?? Herbs to take, or kinds of foods that help? I don't like the idea of taking any harsh drugs to deal with mine, because most of the time, it just makes ridiculous noises that don't bother me too much (I and the people around me usually just think are humourous).
The other day, I felt really bloated and uncomfortable, and a secondary mom (I'm studying abroad right now) made me a tea of oregano leaves. (IE dried oregano strained through hot water) It helped a TON. HIGHLY recommend this to the people who get bloated from our fun gurgle monster friend. Tip: add 2 spoons of sugar, and it really doesnt taste bad at all.
hope this helped...

RE: Cant Burp
ok, i read this forum last week sometime..and i thought it was so odd so many people had the same problem i have. i can't drink soda or anything fizzy or if i eat too fast it will happen..my throat will gurgle and i can't burp ever..it's annoying and sometimes uncomfortable..well i know the only way to get it out is to pass gas or to gag yourself and i actually found a new way to make it easier instead of putting your finger down your throat. you go to gag and arch your shoulders as far back as possible at the same time you are gagging and stick your neck outward...it comes right out.. this sucks and i hope one day they will find a cure..
RE: Cant Burp
I’m actually scheduled to get that “stomach emptying” myself next week .
For a while now I’ve felt severe nausea after I eat and as a result I’m eating less ..losing a lot of weight. it’s a vicious cycle…not to mention the EXSESSIVE BURPING! I on the other hand have no problems with that, that seems to be the only thing I do after I eat! ..so I’m hoping I can finally get some answers next week..it’s just horrible! I also learned that the medication they prescribe to speed up the digestion I’m already taking for nausea (Reglan) which I find some relief with but not 100% of the time..I’ve also read about some nasty side effects with the Reglan which is a little concerning so I try not to take it as much ..anyway i have to say
It is niceto know that you’re not the only one experiencing theses kind of things..I find alot of comfort in that : )
RE: Cant Burp
Hi
I have been suffering from a digestive problem for about 8 years. I would be eating and then I would regurgitate the food I had just eatenand no food or drink would go down until I had been sick. It seemed as if food got lodged somewhere in my eosophagus. After years of thinking I was just plain weird this condition got so bad that I had to go to hospital as I was unable to clear the blockage. The doctor told my my eosophagus was going into spasm and gave me pills - boscupam (not sure of spelling) to take when I had an attack. This failed as anything I swallow comes straight back up! The doctor then sent me for a barium swallow X-ray (the thick white chalky drink). This showed what he told me was a cleft and I needed an endoscopey. When I was coming round from the anaesthetic he told me he had found nothing sinister and to keep taking the tablets!!!
I decided that I would instead change my diet to avoid the foods I knew got blocked like meat, I ate slower and would have to concentrate really hard on the eating process.
I was recently hospitalised again as I tried my like and ate meat. This has lead me tosee the specialist again another barium swallow but this time I am wiser. I have asked lots of questions and told them more relevant info. He now thinks I have a combination of problems. I have just been referred on to a Professor to have a gastric manometry test done which measures the pressure of the muscles in the eospophagus (peristalsis). One of the questions heasked was about where did I burp from, I had never thought about this before but I can only burp from my throat and not from my stomach (unless I lay on my front then I sometimes burp from my stomach). I also get that gurgling noise that everyone mentioned. I have been diagnosed witha schatzki ring ( a muscular ring that has a web across)problems with the sphincter muscles at the top and bottom and reduced motility. There are a couple of treatments one is a surgical cut to the muscle, another is the balloon type which stretches it and the 3rd is a form of botox injection. The web will probably have to be cut but am not sure at the moment what my original consultant will recommend.
I really recommend that you all go to the doctor but dont be fobbed off. List your problems, think about all of your symptoms and just go for it. Eventually someone will listen.
Good luck
i cant believe im not the only one! im 19 n mum couldnt even burp me as a baby but never askeds the doc. i suffer terrible stomache pains all day everyday from this. im constantly bloated and i mean 8months pregnant bloated! no1 understands how much it affects my life, i cant drink fizzy or alcahol, when im out clubbin i feel strange after a while as constant air comes up but never leaves my mouth. ive not even attempted the doc as i no hel say im just unlucky! my stomache jus aches al the time like a tired muscle and i have that groaning al the time, i also spend a fortune on ant-acids. the only thing that helps a bit is andrews salts, i have 2 take it before bed else il wake up with really really bad acid n im too afraid about throwing up so i refuse 2 try that finger thing. sympathy to everyone who cant burp! xx
I have never seen this thread until today and must say I sympathise with you all! I am the opposite and the second any fizzy liquid goes in my throat i burp within two breaths - it can be embarrassing, but ive just got used to it now.
I wanted to post to make a suggestion - it sounds like the issue is with getting the valve above the stomach to open. I hadnt thought burping could be a learned thing until reading this thread, but it looks like it is! Burping a baby is achieved through trying to 'bounce' the excess air back up the oesophagus through a valve called the cardiac sphincter (thanks google ). If your body never learned it, then it literally doesnt know what to do.
I really dont know what you have all been through with your finger techniques and pressure etc, so I thought i'd fling something alternative into the pot. Have you tried visualisations? Trying to visualise the valve, which is a sphincter-type opening (its all in the name :)), opening to release the air may help.
Really go for it and spend some time on it when you feel that excess air in the stomach - imagine the valve opening, the excess air coming out, what it might feel like for that air to rush up the oesophagus, to what noise it might make, to what relief you might feel. Id spend extra time on the early parts since the rest happens naturally, its getting that valve to open thats the key. If it hasnt been trained to work, you have to try to train it yourself! Since its a part of your body, its subject to your will to some extent, giving it some attention will increase this extent, and knowing the mechanics of it will help your chances.
I really sympathise which is why ive suggested this - i dont know if it'll work, but it sounds like its worth a concerted try to me! Like the famous William Arthur Ward quote :
" become it.If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can"
good luck and i hope you all find some relief, and one that doesnt involve paying some antacid firms annual bonus!

Hi people, I am Javi, 38, live in England and I also thought I was the only human in this world with this burp problem..Now I know I am not...thanks ...I suffered from this along years and tried natural remedies against Candida Albicans( mostly garlic) believing that that was the problem..this helped the situation a little but not up to the normal...I do not know yet if this painful thing can be related to this...as that "fungi"(?) is all around the world anyway...lately and, by the way, not thinking at all about this health problem...I found some information about Ethereum Gold and believing that it is a mystery and probably an ancient magical stuff...(based on scientific studies), and that could help to the evolution of the consciousness I decided to get it from a provider (found also in the net) and had a go...
Impressively, after a week of taking these monatomic elements, (which induces the balancing of both sides of the brain and also increases the alpha waves), I realised that I haven't had the burp problem at all since I started eating this Ethereum Gold Powder!!, I do not know if it might be a physical problem, but the truth is that the brain controls most of the organs of our body...my anxiety and fears were gone...there was no feeling of stress and the pain in the chest had completely dissapeared...two weeks, ( I loved it), and the 40 doses of the little bottle were gone...give a little time gap until I get another bottle...and guess what? the little burp problem wants to come back... I know this sound weird...but how weird we felt when we wanted to kiss someone we love with this thing and noises happening...?? also..I wanted to add that I used to masage my throad pressing with my finger(from the outside obviously) relaxing these tendom's tension releases a lot of tension and helped the trapped air to come out as little burps..less painful and I easier I believe.
I mostly posted here because finding that this monatomic elements had eventually sorted a real problem that had me scared...suddenly the fear was gone...
May we just have fear of all those bad things happening in these days all around The World and some how the body need to release it in some way...
??
I hope this can help someone,
Wishing you the best moments of your life,
Javi

It sounds like your describing what I call a vurp. Half vomit, half burp and they can taste really nasty. This can sometimes be the first sign of acid reflux disease. Try taking an antacid like Tums. This can sometimes help break up gas and help you belch. If it persists go to a doctor. Long term acid reflux can burn a hole in your esophagus.

This thread goes back to 2005. So what's you point now - if you don't mind me asking?
The thread may have been started a while ago, *serendipity*, but appears to be ongoing, with many replies in 2007.
It would seem, therefore, that the inability to burp is a problem experienced by many, with a variety of contributions here. So with respect, may I ask what was the point of your post?
Holistic
Reflexology! I tried hand reflexology on a collegue who had trouble burping - I worked over the stomach, diaphram and lungs and he burped within a few minutes - I showed him what to work over and he was fine after 15/20 minues.

How does one do this?
I've had this problem probably my whole life (30 yr male) but most noticeably over the last 10 years. Doctor says he's never heard of the inability to burp unless it's been after the fundoplication surgery. I have most all the symptoms listed by other folks here, and yes I did join the forum just for this thread! I likely dont have any constriction of the esophagus (like shiatzkis ring, etc) as I have no problem swallowing food. The "gas-bloat syndrome" that I was diagnosed with is almost certainly GAS BLOAT (and not excess liquid or solid) as after I induce vomiting (only air comes up first, so no food!) I always feel a LOT better. Makes me think: "If I could burp, my problem would be solved!"...
How was your reflexology performed (specifically)?
Thank you!
PS Anyone know what's going on with this thread? It's confusing, compare these:
vs
Both are page 4 of the same thread, but a lot of posts are cut off on the 2nd link?
oops. forget the thread thing i figured it out.
but the reflexology?
Hey guys I'm back with a little bit more information.
I now have a youtube video blog where i talk about this whole problem, trying to spread the word in hopes that someone will see it and be able to help. I have gotten a few responses from medical students who are going to try to find stuff out in their research...also I found a new forum about it...there are seriously sooo many more of us. The amount of people with this problem are more than DOUBLED on this new forum...It's crazy.
Here is the link to my video blog on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/gurglez
Here is the url of the forum I was talking about:
I hope you all look at my video blog and also check out this new forum and add your posts!!!!!
I have yet to type up my post for this newly discovered site. Someone just told me about it tonight and I've been reading through everything before posting. I hope this helps all of you...and I feel like we're just a little bit closer to finding help. okayyy thanks for your time! Byeee!!! :]

Hi im a 28 year old male and i have never been able to burp. Occasionally one tiny burp will slip out but its never intentional...

Hi everyone-unable to burp,
May I share my perception of this with you?
All this is link to a control problem.
All of you with this kind of symtomp are person in way too much control.
Mentally? you are kind of personn wanting to be in TOTAL control of you.
You do not want to faill yourself, you want to rely on you at every cost at everytime.
So you launch control...and control grows way to much and take his toll.
At first, control is a psychological need but when you do it for to long it cause unbalance, deep unbalance and this has consequence on your physical level.
All the natural ways of let it go your body would use if well balanced are locked.
All excretions (sudation, burps, winds,...list any you can think about) can come to blocage level.
This kind of over control can be very ling with the feeling any excretion are dirt and disgusting.
This problem mix CONTROL and PURITY.
You have too work on both in order to be fine again.

I am so happy to see this thread. No one believes that I have this very same thing that you have, the forced burps, the gross gurgles that have made for awkward makeout sessions. I love you all.
Max
Me too - Doctor was baffled
I've had this same gurgling/ not burping thing for years now.
I've been to the doctors a few times, they've tried endoscopy ultrasound and various prescriptions but found nothing. The best he could say was try and eat slowly and don't eat or drink too much!
I might print out this thread and see another doctor about it now!
An answer?
Hello, i joined this board a while back, just to make a post in this topic, but it seems i may now have a partial answer.
I am a medical student (still!) and i have come across something that seems to explain my symptoms. This does NOT mean that i am diagnosing you all, and please just take my explanation here as just a piece of information in a jigsaw, not a complete answer. i am not a qualified doctor - just a student.
There is a variant of IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) called functional abdominal bloating. This is the same condition as the Pain-gas-bloat sydrome described by one user already in this thread. i beleive i may 'suffer' from this condition.
The severity of this condition varies greatly from person to person. Some estimates ay that 20% of the population have the symptoms of IBS, but that only 10% will consult their doctor about them.
The symptoms of functional abdominal bloating include:
- feelings of fullness and blaoting after meals
- loud audible bowel sounds
- excessive flatulence (gas)
- nausea
general symptoms of IBS include
- sensations of bloating - generally this will increase as the day goes on
- altered bowel habits (constipation / diarrhoea or both)
- increased pain and sensation in the digestive system
- general uncomfortable-ness in the digestive system
You do not have to have all these symptoms to be diagnosed with IBS, and note that in pain/gas/bloat syndrome there isn't normally any diarrhoea or constipation.
Now this sounds a lot like my symptoms!
But here is the 'bad' news. Doctor's don't really know what causes it. In people with IBS, with all the tests and scans and investigations that are currentlyavailable the whole bowel appears normal. basically, if they can't find anything wrong, but you are still experiencing digestive symptoms of some kind, they say you have IBS.
doctors think that it may be linked to abnormal nerves controlling the digestive system - this could be anywhere from your brain to your spinal chord to your digestivge system itself. Infact, there is a very high incidence of anxiety and depression amongst sufferes of IBD.
This definately does not mean that everyone here (myself included) has a psycholigcal condition! many patients with IBD have no evidence at all of this. However, the 'treatment's' that are recommended for IBD basically involve reassurance of the patient (that nothing is physically wrong in the digestive system). Some centres even recommend hypotherapy (although this is not for everyone)
some doctors recommend anti-dpressants, but there is not much evidence the prove that they work. In severe cases, they may help the patient become less anxious and thus improve their symptoms.
often when pain /gas/ bloat syndrome is diagnosed the patient will be put on a very low dose of an antidepressant with a muscle relaxant.
There is a phenomenon call 'somatisation' whereby a person may subconsciosuly (possibly due to stress / anxiety / psychological problems) alter their bodies functioning to give physical symptoms. This may explain some cases of IBD.
It is also worth noting that placebo drugs that have been used to treat IBD are up to 50% effective! so basically, if you take something beleiving that it is going to cure you, even if there is no scientific prrof that it can do anything, there is a 50% chance your symptoms will go!
I think that many of the therapies described on this forum may be working via this mechanism.
It is important to remember that your mind CAN alter the way your body works, and that this almost always happens subconsciously.
I hope that by this explanation some of you may feel like you understand your symptoms a bit more, and this might make you less anxious about them, and possibly even improve them (oh if the world were that simple!)
If you feel like you are a 'worrier' and that this may be causing your symptoms, it may be worth visitng your GP and having a chat with them about this, and possibly looking for ways to reduce your anxiety.
Feel free to message me if you would like any more information or explanation.
One more quick bit of info -
in 30% of people , IBS symptoms only started after they had diarrhoea - perhas some people on here can trace back their symptoms to a bout of diarrhoea they caught from food?
Me too
I have the same problem to but my burps get stuck for so long I start to dry heave my parents are taking me to the doctor tomorrow because they are so freaked out by this
Genetic
Hi all.
I am 26 and have never been able to burp. As a baby if my parents tried to wind me after feeding me, I would throw up instead! I get the gurgling after eating but unlike some people that have posted on here, I find it funny! I do find if I am drinking a lot of fizzy drinks I need to wretch (almost throw up) to expel the gas but I am then fine again. It doesn't really have an impact on my life except I am naturally polite at meals (no loud belching!). I don't have any problems with the 'other end' and am sure some of the gas must make its way all the way through my system.
Of note, many people on here have said that they thought that they were the only one unable to burp, but for me this was never the case because although my mum can burp with the best of them, my dad also can't burp. Then along came my little brother (now 21) who also can't. I think this may show that there could be a genetic cause as otherwise it's one hell of a coincidence. No idea what it is though.
To anyone that is concerned about it I would just say to enjoy it. You learn to live round it and the gurgling can be really funny (especially if you have a few people together who all do it!) My husband thinks it's cute and if I ever complain about his burping, he just accuses me of being jealous!!
So glad im not the only 1 im not a freak woo!
Ive experienced the same thying for about 8 months or so, since last july, my mum thought it was due to stress of my exam results due in august, but its march now and they're still here :(.
Sometimes they make me feel really sick but other times they come and go within 5 minutes, so id have to say i dont have them a serious as some of u others who have replied. (i feel for ya).
theres only been one case where it has really got me down, the night before my exam results they took over my life! i think its because i had everything happening at once! i was stressed, nervous, was the wrong time of the month, had too see some people i really didnt want to see and my best mate wasnt well so i had everythin hit me all in one so yes i experienced these dreaded dry heaves!
I had them really bad yesturday but they went as soon as i went to bed (which was lucky some nights they dont) but i have to ask, does any1 find they go worse when smoking? if any of you smoke> just something ive noticed.
anyway if any1 finds out what this is actually known as let me know so i can tell my mates instead of them laughin at me lol
some doctors recommend anti-dpressants, but there is not much evidence the prove that they work. In severe cases, they may help the patient become less anxious and thus improve their symptoms.

Hello everyone
Looking at these posts and the very full look at the possibilities posted by gnarlytom above, I would like to hazard a guess as to the cause.
People are eating far fewer vegetables than they use to and the food we eat is far less nutritious than it was - see this link . We are also consuming far more sugar and refined foods than ever before using up the body's limited resources of vitamins and minerals to metabolise them, as a result we are becoming mineral deficient :(.
One of the most important minerals in the body espcially for normal intestinal function is magnesium. This along with zinc and selenium are the three most common mineral deficiencies from the diet. Magnesium's function in the digestive system is to allow the muscles to contract and relax normally (as in peristalsis). When the muscles cannot relax then that can cause all sorts of problems. A high calcium intake, oral contraceptives and other factors can also reduce absorption or increase excretion of magnesium.
Also, in the past many people took 'Andrews Liver Salts' for 'biliary' problems - anyone over 50 may remember them? Well, they contain magnesium sulphate - a very cheap source of magnesium. It seems to have gone out of fashion, but I tried it on my husband recently and it has made a difference. It may be worth a try and won't cost you much. Be aware more than a teaspoon can cause loose stools, so if it does, reduce the amount - or just try half to start with to see if it helps.
If you prefer food sources try wheat bran and germ, nuts, tofu, seeds, kale, brown rice, watercress, pineapple, okra, endive, blackberries, raspberries, green lettuce, grapes, beans, strawberries, oats, beetroot, celery, etc. Fish, meat, milk and the most commonly eaten fruits are low in magnesium.
Hope that's of help to some
Caroline
Seeing as the last post was within the last 2 weeks I thought i'd post as I found this forum after searching on 'cant burp'.
I'm a 32 year old male, and never been able to burp apart from the very small accidental ones that pop out under extreme laughing or hiccups. I get the gurgling noises alot, especially after lunch (its become an office joke)
When I was a teenager, I never drank beer or coke while out with friends otherwise I would get more and more uncomfortable to the point I would get hiccups and feel really bloated
In my 20's a took to wine, and this doesn't really effect me anymore or less than anything else... brandy can actually calm it, but obviously its only possible at home or in a restaurant.
I have spent some time reading through the forum, and share alot of the symptoms. Lately I have been quite tired and stressed, and this has made it worse. I find my shoulders tense, and have had a few occasions whilst driving where I have had to pull over as I feel so uncomfortable due to shallow breathing and constant 'frog' noises. I too find laying down helps, although at its worse I also feel very bloated, and that brings on another symptom.... I can feel my heart beating, and that stops me sleeping. Normally laying on my left side starts a series of loud gurgles which eases the discomfort (not that my wife finds it that nice )
I have tried gaviscon, and chewy antacids, but most don't have any effect.
My diet is quite healthy, although we eat alot of hot (chili) food. I do most of the cooking, and use fresh veg etc in my sauces, very little fat/cream etc, yet that doesn't seem to help. What I would say is I feel worse when we visit family in Germany, and eat alot more bread, particularly at breakfast.
Part of me thinks this is an anxiety thing, my mum suffers from anxiety, although she can burp fine. But i'm defiantly worse if i'm tired, stressed, or before getting a cold etc. On the other hand my dad could not burp until he was 16. He tells the story of going to the pub, drink 2 pints and thinking he would be sick, only to run out the pub and do a huge burp into the bushes, since then he has been able to burp no problem. My 22 year old brother also suffers, whereas my 19 year old brother doesn't.
There are a few things I can do to calm the discomfort though. I can make myself gurgle, maybe its the same action as burping, a sort of push in the chest using musscles. I have to do it alot to get rid of alot of air though. I also feel sometimes like I'm going to burp (more a feeling of being sick), but my reflex is to stop incase i really am sick.
I should add that although I feel the discomfort/bloating is caused by stress etc, I feel the inability to burp is musscle related. I fart alot, however, I have not been sick for about 20 years. I've had food poisoning twice, both resulted in the runs, but no sickness, and on the rare occasion that I drink far too much I can feel a bit sick, but generally I get an eagar need to poo, and this solves the sick feeling, I guess like it does to people who are sick after lots of alcahol.
Now, having spent the last few days quite uncomfortable, even when i started to write this thread, I have just noticed that the feeling has gone... maybe the concetration took my mind off it.... It seems to be a strange thing, but i'm certainly going to see if i can learn to burp!
Neil
I think quite a few people suffer from this kind of problem. This is actually a classic digestive disorder. I know that most of the people with this problem take muscle relaxants to get hiccups/gurgling under control. Best thing is probably to contact a GP to get professional advice on your individual case.
Finally!
I am 25 years old and have had all the same problems with not being able to burp my whole life and having stomach problems because of it. I have actually learned to burp. It's strange and amazing. I suspect there to be something physically similar that all of us have in common that kept it from being a natural reaction, but at least with me... over the last 4 months or so, I've gotten to the point where I can actually burp when I need to most of the time. I still can't belch on command or burp the ABCs, but when I feel the need to burp, I can do certain things with my chest, shoulders, neck, jaw, and throat to make a burp happen (sounds more complicated than it actually is once I got the hang of it). Sometimes they're small and sometimes they are big. It did not completely fix my stomache problems, but it is better and i can now better understand which foods upset my stomach, and I can explain it in no other way than to say that it is absolutely glorious. I'm interested to see if I can help anyone else learn how to do this. I hope your search turns out as well as mine did.
Hi all,
I'm so relieved I found this webpage - I am 33 and I've never been able to burp. As I've got older it actually seems to have got worse. I too opt for the fingers down the throat to bring up air. I haven't found anything that really helps though, tried the gripe water that someone mentioned but it doesn't seem to help.
My doctor diagnosed me with anxiety a couple of years ago and put me on prozac. While I was on it, it did seem to work as in there wasn't such a gas build up. However as soon as I stopped it was back within weeks. Everytime I go to the doctors they just seem to think my inability to burp has nothing to do with my digestive problems but having read all these threads I now think its definately related.
I often also get quite dizzy and can't catch my breath properly which is actuallly more scary than the not being able burp.
My doctor has now finally booked me in for some tests at the hospital, but judging from the threads people haven't had a lot of success so I'm not overly optimistic, but if I hear anything different or if any thing works I will definately post on here.
Debs
I am so glad I found this forum/discussion, and like so many others I have now joined the site to post my problem.
So I have the same problem as everyone else on here. I can not burp. Instead I get this weird rumble/gurgle in my chest, which is very embarassing when with friends in the classroom. Sometimes this occurs when I am nervous and makes me very self conscious. However I find this happens every time I do P.E/Sport at school. I feel very tired quickly and my chest tightens. The main effect however is feeling soo very sick, and having way too much saliva in my mouth. My throat seems to contract, making the sickness worse. This in turn makes me more tired and fatigued, making people realise i am tired and gets me some stick for this, which doesn't help. Then when I finish I find I need to sit down because I am so tired. But of course I have sport first thing in the morning so have to put up with it for another 6 hours before I get home. After I have arrived at my next lesson, feeling very tired still, I find I get this gurgling in my chest (but never a burp). Then (quite often through the day) I find my throat tightens again, as more saliva is created in my mouth, and I feel as if I am about to be sick. A fewtimes I have been sick, alomst been sick or done an almightily massive belch, with which alot of saliva comes out. However this lasts for approx. 2 mins at a time, and can occur many times through the day. After this 'happening' I feel better for about 5 mins before the whole process happens again. So I have now learned to live with it (after about 5 years now) and put up with it until I get home. I then find I just hsve to lay down as I feel awful, my chest feels tight, I am still experincing these weird feelings in my stomach/chest/throat, and have no energy left at all. After about 5-10 mins I feel great, better than at any time through the day, and usually lay down for about one and a half hours before getting up again. When I get up, the problems all come back, draining me of energy and making the weird noises again. As I say I have learnt to cope with it, but would love a answer as to why this happens. I have been to the hospital with it but they said they have never known anything like it, and can find nothing wrong, apart from saying it is anxiety. It now seems to occur more often than before and is getting worse, bt I can do nothing about it. If anyone knows any thing that helps, explains the problem to me, and everyone else, I would be very grateful.
I thought I would post my experiences for more people to refer to and give my best peice of advice...
If you havent tried it yet, just lay down, it really does help, until you get up again!
