Hi Calla Lilly,

So sorry to hear about your little angel. Last night I watched "embarrassing teenage bodies" on Channel4 and one of the conditions they talked about was tricholtillomania.
I have attached the link to this message:

http://www.channel4embarrassingillnesses.com/conditions/tricholtillomania/

Thought it might give you some more info and probably you could show it to your daughter as well, so she realises that there are lots of teenagers out there with similar habits.

Best wishes,

Zimba
xx

Hi all,

OK, I'm 16 now and about 2 years ago I pulled all my eyelashes out, I thought I'd create an account quickly and reply to this (although a little late) just in case anyone is passing through looking for solutions.

Stopping was hard, and trying did not help - what I did was wear an elastic band around m,y wrist, and whenever I realized i was about to pull, i would flick it to the point of it hurting slightly, - i see this worked for Solas' Son too, so if your struggling, give it a go there's nothing to lose.

I also have mild OCD FYI.

I didn't realise how common this was!

Hi!
Wow, i cannot believe that in reading this thread that Trichotillomania is so common!

I started when i was 11, during primary school when i was sufferfing from bullying. I did not link this to me pulling out my lashes, and just thought that it would be funny to do it and challenged a friend to pull some out with me.

I didn't end there, i am still doing it and 6 years on i am FED UP! It has now progressed to me pulling out my eyebrows, but not as much as my eyelashes. I go through stages, where i go from pulling almost every single on out, to not doing it at all. I also associate it with boredom, when i am busy i just do not do it. Its also irriating as some people do not understand, looking at me strangley. I also have Trichopagia, meaning i eat the eyelashes :mad: its horrid but i do it 🙁

I did go to my doctor, who told me it was my fault and that there was nothing she could do (cow), but reading up on it, there are so many things! Its really starting to get me down, as i used to have really thick lashes 🙁

I think i might try the elastic band, as i do get pleasure from the pulling sensation, which creeps me out.

I feel so much better and not lanoe reading the posts!xx

hi all, also didn't realise how many people do this, I used to pull out my eyelashes as a teenager, and now in my thirties i still have days when i feel stressed that i pull some out, but not make myself have bald patches , as i used to do. It is niced to know there are others, wish i had some words of wisdom, mine has just eased, or maybe i did replace it with other behaviours. I can relate to that feeling of pleasure, experiencing the pain/sensitiveness and the control factor, it is a form of self-harm, like cutting or scratching, so i guess trying to talk to others and managing anxiety may be a way forward xx

Are you suffering from Yeast???

Had you a vaginal yeast infections? I had it but I am well now. There is no medical treatment
but some natural way and some special care. It is a great ugly and nasty disease it started
from a teen age and never well if you had a proper guide line. It comes back few month later.
Most of Natural Remedies you bought from Internet are useless for you. While some products seemed to help for a short period of time, nothing could kill the yeast Candida completely and the symptoms always returned. In fact most of them made my symptoms worse than before.
Don't worry you will find proper solution just visit http://www.yeastinfectionsremedy.com/yeast-infection-cure/cure-chronic-yeast-infections

I think you will find here some very helpful information there. Best of luck to you.
