I take an omega 3 supplement just now.
Unfortunately they are quite big geletine type -- I want to source some more child friendly size (or taste) ones to give to my 5 year old who has multiple allergies.
I could cut them open but I would still have to hold him down to get him to take them. He hates fish - oily fish - no chance... typical kid.
He does take a liquid mineral supplement that I give him that helps his skin condition.. it tastes fine. So I am looking for a nice (!) tasting fish oil - anyone heard of such a product?
I read flax and pumkin oils are also rich in this essential oil so anyone know of suppliers other than Holland and Barrett.
RE: Child friendly Omega 3
Hi,
Someone recommended an Omega 3 supplement to me which my daughter doesn't mind taking - it's called Elafex or Efalex or similar and is available from Boots at £6.99 a bottle. I think it's evening primrose as well as fish oils. It's lemon and lime flavoured.

And Sainsbury's do cold pressed flax oil but read the thread about cancer before giving it to your children. Ground seeds are apparently better than oil.

Some of our customers have also mentioned that the Omega 3 fish oil capsules are quite big for children to take. A suggestion we have heard of is to freeze the capsules. Once frozen they can be cut in half and taken a lot easier. Also there is no chance of any after taste.:)

Hi
In 'Todays Therapist' there is an add for O-mega fish oil suppliments for children.
They are called ESKIMO KIDS. Tutti-Frutti flavour. cost £9.95. I presume a good health shop would stock them.

hope this helps

Odo's choice are good ones & you should be able to get their products online or from a good independent health food shop. I used the (optimum blend - I think) on my kids 4 & 3yrs. I didn't use capsules, just straight forward oil as they use plant oils there is no fishy taste. I use to drizzle a little on toast before spreading with honey, butter etc. or After cooking I'd put it in soups, casseroles, porridge or even milky puddings. As long as I didn't go overboard they didn't seem to bother.
RE: Child friendly Omega 3
I would suggest you give your son avocados - they can be mashed with banana and lemon juice to make them more palatable, and contain Omega 3 ( and 6 I believe )
Far nicer than the yukky capsules. We can find evrything we need in fruit and veg, and our bodies will thank us for it !

The Efalex is quite pleasant tasting. My stepson even asked if he could have some more the other day! My daughter likes the taste too. She doesn't like mashed food so I haven't a hope with the avacado!

Yeucchh
that was the response to Efalex (I tried too and kept getting an after come back taste)
Boots were doing a 3 for 2 offer and I gave a bottle to a friend for her 8 year old - his response was "it feels like my throats made of plastic"
I tried [:@]
Now what is this Odo's -- update later.
