Hi Clare

Well done you for giving up the cigs, only us ex smokers know how hard it is and it's even harder when you are stressed. Just do a day at a time, that's how I did it.

Like you I also get horrendous pain in my hips from laying in bed, sometimes in the middle of the night I have to get up just to stop it. As for the pain in your lower back, I only get pain when touching the very bottom of my back still. All the area under my scar no longer hurts on pressure, but god forbid if anyone comes near the bottom of my back.

Anyway I just really wanted to say congrats on the smoking. I am off the try and catch some z's too.

Speak to you tomorrow I expect.

Love Wend xxxxx

Hi Clare,

Sorry I haven't replied sooner but had a busy morning sorting out new hours and contents insurance. I will soon be the proud owner of a meerkat 🙂 I can't wait, I love them.

I have my bestest friend coming for tea and a natter in the hot tub. I just hope I am up to the hot tub as back is playing up today and nothing helps, bloody typical it always seems to play up when I want to see friends.

Just in case you have the problem of friends running for the hills at the moment I will tell you my story with my friend whose coming today. For the first few months after I hurt my back I felt her pulling away and was really hurt. Then occasionally she would come round and act as if nothing had happened. After my fusion she popped in to see me and also to drop a prezzie off for my daughter who was 18 and to promise to be her surrogate mum on the night of her party as it was only 8 days after my op I couldn't go. After this I heard nothing for months. I was gutted, we had been friends for 17 years. Eventually I sent her an email and she said could she come round and discuss it. Basically the outcome was she couldn't cope with my problems and she said she would try harder. I kind of decided to give up then, however I then heard that she and her hubby were splitting up and had to contact her. For the last six months I contact her regularly and since she moved and now only has her kids every other week I have her for tea when she is childless. Two weeks ago she apologised to me for being a crappy friend and thanked me for being there for her. I am just glad to have my friend back and whilst I can no longer go out drinking we can still have a good relationship. The reason I have gabbled on is that I know loads of people on these forums who have lost friends, but it can work out.

I nearly just deleted that waffle but it took too long to write so left it in 🙂 I apologise to you for having to read it.

I always say to Steve I must rattle when I walk as I take 31 tablets a day, so I know how you feel. I hate the big tablets as they make me gag yuck!

I am glad we agreed on yesterday's issue as I just had to say something. Just because I don't go on and on about my problems doesn't me I don't have any. Up until yesterday I have always tried to help people but feel I have reached my limit in this case. I see he has found others to listen for now, I however will save my sanity by not commenting anymore.

Anyway I hope you have a bearable day and I send you a gentle hug to make you feel better.

Take care,

Love Wend xxx

Sunny days

Morning Clare and anyone else reading 🙂

It is a lovely sunny day here and I went out this morning yippie. Only popped to local shops as needed to get a couple of bits for my sons 19th bday tomorrow. I need to give hubby lessons in pushing the wheelchair though as he whizzes along and I have to keep making him go back. When we get to what I want to look at he stops himself in front of the item so I am too far in front to see. Honestly anyone watching us would have laughed.

I hope you are ok today, well as ok as you can be. How's the electric cig? I hope you can get out in the garden and get some sun. I will be spending the day indoors now as the shopping has left me in a lot of pain, but it was still worth it.

Love Wend xxx

hi clare, thankyou for the reply, you obviously are worse off than me, i have had 2 failed lasors on l5/s1, i'm sure that i should have had it removed in the late 90s, i've somehow managed to try and manage my pain with epidurals and medications, as no surgeon would touch me after my ops for fear of making me worse, i've been with hope hosp since 2000 where i had a spinal stimulator implanted in 2001, after 2 revisions on the location wires on my back, it was dissconected, because the signal was never in the right place to cover my pain.then 11 weeks ago after a bout of mild pneumonia my pain slowly started to increase and i've been housebound for 9 weeks, even though i had not done anything to make it worse!
anyway, i'm sure that everyone on here will be thinking of you on the 25th, good health to,daveyam,x!:)

hi

are you not having another mri to see what's happening it's disgraceful the way way your being treated no one should have to live like that if there is something that can be done who is your consultant? have they not suggested fusion? my old surgeon who did my discectomies was mr patel i can't stand the man if he had it his way i would be left like this but my new surgeon is called mr george he is clinical lead in complex spinal surgery and what a nice man he is he sat down and spoke to me like a friend not a patient and luckily he found out what was going on with and why i kept on re-herniating so soon after my ops and let's face it i was in a few weeks ago and he went away looked through his diary and booked me in which was only a 5 week wait plus im the only one getting done on that day by his team cos of the lenght of time it's gonna take, but in saying they was worried because it's quite central and maybe i am at risk of ces because he told me if things got to the point where i needed to go to a and e he told me to go to salford and get the docs to page him because he doesn't want any one messing up me as he want's this fusion to not be jepordised.

sorry for essay but really is there no way you can ask to get seen by him or even demamd another mri they can't leave you like this

no one should suffer like you are doing

love clare xxxxxxxxxx my left side not too bad this morning got 4 hours sleep which is good but i did have my morphine at 1 this morning xxxxxxxxxxxxx
