I'm sorry, but I am not in the same position as you, I just wanted to say how very, very sorry I am to read your post and about your disability, and to try and get you to the top of the thread list for a while

I have friends and family who have had similar experiences, and not one of them have improved thier conditions in the long term after fusion. I'm not saying it is not possible, but just that in my experience, one fused level, will be followed by more fused levels in the future.

I can't believe no-one else has had a fusion of their lower back. Or maybe everyone else just clever enough to say no 🙂

I refused, but two of my friends (that I met through pain clinic so the odds are much higher) both have worsened trouble, one is incontinent and one bent over on crutches in agony, so I felt it wasn't a positive thing to reply with.

Fusion IS the last option, so there are obviously far less going on.

I will keep in touch but I would have liked to talk to someone who has been left like me. I still might not be finished with surgery as had a CT Myelogram yesterday to see what's happening with the nerves and whether more surgery will help. Have to say did hurt quite a bit afterwards, thank goodness for morphine:) Speak soon Wend
