Hi well i've had problems with my back for around 4-3 months now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

I started to get back pain only when in bed on my right side lower back which has now developed into my right glute and a little numbness down my right leg its becoming uncomfortable to sit for prolonged periods unless sitting on a pillow. My back pain generally goes away once out of bed.I thought lay off the exercise for a while and it would heal naturally.

I was seeing a chiro who was working on my traps and said i'd lower back problems he started to straighten my back out and performed a few hip adjustments. This is where i think the glute pain started

At first i thought id overdone it on by deadlifting or squats poor form?

I've done no back work for 3 months now and its still no better

I've bought a medium firm mattress as i thought that was the culprit but no luck

I've been doing a stretch where i put my right leg over my left knee and then moving my left leg to the left where i can feel a good stretch and a little pain in my glute.I've also been using a tennis ball to target the area any advice?

I've put off going to the docs as it generally only affects me whilst in bed but now my glutes hurting should i be concerned ?

Hi,

I would recommend you try a Bowen Treatment and you would need to have at least 3 treatments for a lasting effect. Bowen is a very gently non- invasive treatment. If you don't have the funds you could always look online for manuals or videos how to self treat "trigger points". Good luck!

Hi stone,

by description its possible you have a disc pressing on a nerve or a slight muscle tear. Dont however panic. I have discovered prior to going the surgery route that many people get periods of baack/glute pain that is often remedied following...... consultation with a doctor:)

So firstly go get seen. If its been ongoing for months and = annoyance more than pain then its possible you can get benefit from structured stretches like some other people may advise but until the root cause is identified you'll be in the dark. The glute is a large muscle with many nerves and muscles and simple things such as what you wear on your feet to the gait of your walk, how you sit etc can cause symptoms further up the body.

Simple stretch would be laying on your stomach totally flat then slowly pushing up as though your going to do a pressup but keep your hips on the floor and try straighten your arms. BIT you need medical direction.

Im not a fan of chiropracters and prefer physiotherapists as they tend to have more intimate knowledge. As the tennis ball isnt helping you maybe need something deeper, I would suggest from experience accupuncture as it solved my glute pain - i had 'long needle acupuncture' and they actively try to touch the point in the glute causing the issue and in my case i actually felt it releasing during the treatment and after 3 sessions havent needed anything since.

Also remember stopping exercise totally isnt always a positive. Sometimes just changing your lifting style, weight and strengthening other parts of the body you've neglected can help.

Hope something in there helps

Thanks guys I will definitely look into Bowen treatment any ideas on prices?

My flute is driving me mad I'm in constant pain when sitting or lying in bed I only seem to get relief when walking or doing stretches but only on a temporary basis.

Doctor put me on dicloflex for the month and I'm to go back if its no better I've struggled with sleeping all week which has made working nights a nightmare thank god for caffeine 😀
