Can anyone offer general advice on dealing with dyspraxia, I am 25 and my dyspraxia has improved to a large extent over my life I am a lot better than I was.
- I am looking at any advice on improving body language in any way that would help in social situations, even if it was tips to avoid certain things rather than do certain things. I would pay for a tutor to help with dyspraxia but don't want to spend a lot.
- Any good book recommendations that people find worthwhile?
- I was looking at the vitamin d deficiency article to do with autism etc, is it worthwhile taking a lot of vitamin d and getting a lot of sunlight, suntan exposure with dyspraxia? Any other vitamins that are useful for dyspraxia such as Omega 3, multi-vitamins?
Hi mrthompsonuk,
These websites may have the answers to your questions,
My eldest son (15 years old) is dyspraxic, and while i've never been diagnosed, think i have a mild version too.:)

from the second site
"If your child has some of the outward symptoms of essential fat deficiency - rough dry patches on the skin, cracked lips, dull or dry hair, soft or brittle nails, and excessive thirst - it is fair to say that this could be an underlying factor in learning difficulties they might be experiencing, such as concentration or visual problems, mood swings, disturbed sleep patterns and in some cases behavioural problems. This is because dyslexia, dyspraxia, learning difficulties and ADHD all involve poor nerve cell communications in the brain, and essential fats are crucial in keeping neurons talking to each other."
I do experience these conditions I often have dry skin on my hands and sometimes need to use E45 cream, my hair can sometimes be very dry, and my nails are very tough when cutting them, I also drink a lot more than the average person, also my sleep pattern used to be very strange although improved recently and also I have had some behavioural problems in the past.
Thanks for the article 🙂
I used to take an extra strength Omega 3 daily, with these conditions is it safer to take more than one capsule a day?

You're more than welcome, 🙂 regarding your query about the vitamins, that'll be something you would be best asking a doctor or pharmacist i'm afraid.

Hi mthompsonuk,
I used to teach secondary school pupils with learning and emotional and behavioural difficulties before I qualified as a complementary therapist.
Simple breathing exercises, and tranquility meditation focusing on the breath can be helpful for the anxiety which sometimes accompanies dyspraxia. It will also help to let go of any tension and create more relaxed body language. To begin with, just sit comfortably with your spine straight and gently breathe in and out, mentally counting to 1, then again in and out and count to 2 (on the outbreath) and continue till 10 and then relax. If you don't want to count, then just gently focus your attention on you breath as it goes in and out of your nose. Just 5 or 10 minutes 2 or 3 times daily doing this would be useful.
A meditation class might be a consideration, and a Tai Chi class would be particularly helpful If you have difficulties with spacial awareness and balance. You might find hypnotherapy or hypnotherapy CD'S useful too. There are a number of CD'S BY Glenn Harrold that you might check out.
Hope that's of some help.
Kind wishes,
Elen
