Hi There,

Just after your thoughts please 🙂

My daughter who is 8 has Asthma , but its an allergic type Asthma so, she is allergic to dust mites and has a local sensitivity to all pollens and pollution.

We have been told as she doesnt wheeze its not normal Asthma and we no longer have to give her steroid inhalers which is great but, she does have a light dry cough all day. When it is Hayefever season or if she has a cold , she becomes very musosy ( if thats a word!) and has a harder cough and she says its like something is stuck to her chest .

Does anyone think a Salt Pipe would be able to help her at all.

I am desperate to help her as a child in her class doesnt want to sit next to her because she has Asthma and even her tacher commented infront of her peers " it sounds like she a car trying to start " !

Thanks :()

I think you meant "mucousy". 🙂

First things first, it's probably best to take her back to the doctors to get her checked out again. Even though people don't want to take inhalers or other medications ideally, it's always a good idea to have a backup plan... just in case... and allergies are one of those things where you don't want to get a sudden attack (especially anaphalactic type) and not be in a position to do anything about it.

If it feels like something is stuck in her chest this could be the "tightness" that asthmatics feel, or she could actually have a chest infection that needs sorting. Get the doctor to check.

It's disgraceful that the teacher is not supportive of children in the class with, what is essentially, a disability, and perhaps you could call up the school and speak to the headteacher about it.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice from others here in relation to nutritional, natural or complementary treatments to help with your daughters issue, I don't have much experience in that area myself, but would certainly recommend starting with the doctor again.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

crystallotus.com - Asthma Mudra - welcome to shana’s amazing world of acupressure angkorvat atma aum banaras chakra damaru discipline esoteric ezine fengshui hindu hinduism india instruments jesus jivatma kundalini lakshmi love mata maya mohenjo-daro
is what came up. I find mudras are very efficient ways to deal and often even get rid of many physical problems. Research a bit more if you like. There are many that can be used for asthma. There are some for strengthening lungs

Could start adding turmeric to stews and in most meals, it fights infection, builds immune system, and is anti bacterial agent of highest order.

Of course, emotionally supporting your little girl, makling her stronger and secure within her heart will help her combat seemingly nasty comments as well as the condition itself. Love her up, a cuddle time to be open and playful with her before sleep each night will be anti-dote to all her little struggles with peers and social pressures that come her way
Hope it goes away for good.
blessings to you both

The llight dry cough is almost certainly a sign that her asthma is not controlled. You say they have stopped the steroid inhaler. Does she still have a blue inhaler? ( 'Releiver' inhaler)

I really wuld take her back to the dr - not to get any more medication but to make sure you (and they) know what is going on with her breathing.

I have NO experience of complementeray remedies for asthma - only medical ones so I can't comment about salt pipe.

I had full blown asthma as a child and as an adult allergy asthma. Mine presents now as cough which is slow to clear and I too have to be mindful that if I get a cold the cough can follow.

I have a preventative inhaler which lines my lungs and which I have always been advised to use all the time, needless to say I don't always but it is helpful if I do.

I had a tough time after a chest infection last year which set off the asthma and I found a salt pipe helped me to settle the cough I had. The other thing that helped was ivy thyme tincture from the Heath shop.

Don't let the asthma control your daughters life. I had asthma from 6 months old and fortunately my parents made sure it was just something I had, that was part of who I was and it never became about the asthma which I really feel helped me learn to live with it and for it never to become a problem.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all your replies.

There is not one nhs Dr who actually believes she is Asthmatic as she has never had a wheeze or an Asthma attack and also her peak flow is at 90% however, a Homeopathic Dr said that a light cough is a sign of childhood asthma.

I do have the Blue reliever inhaler that I keep with me at all times and I stopped using the preventer at the end of August ( under medical advice ) .

I have kept her off sugar and dairy and its only after reading this all back that I realise that I had started to let her have more sugar and dairy over Xmas and the cough came back ..also I really like the idea of strengthening her lungs via, Yoga, Breathing and excercise ...

I think I will go and see the Homeopathic Dr again to see what advice she can give. It was after seeing this Dr that we managed to clear her eczema so I am hopeful the Asthma can be helped too.

I'll let you know how we get on 🙂
