Hi white spirit,

i am sorry to hear of that, I am glad you are having help from the DR and it is wise to listen to his advice.

However, there are natural htings you can do to help you, i suggest drinking aloe vera gel for drinking, this will boost your immune system and has been found beneficial to allergy sufferers so often.

i know I am banging on about Aloe today but I really believe in it and find it helpful to so many people for so many things...just for keeping well! Also it is natural and can't hurt you but help.

Hi White Spirit

Did you know that peanuts are not nuts....they are actually a member of the bean family....nope I didn't know that until a few weeks ago either...but there you go...learn something new every day, you take care

Aha - that would explain something that has been puzzling me for years. My husband has a nut allergy - but is actually OK with peanuts. But hey - they're beans, so it all makes sense now.

Thanks Stormdeva for educating me!

Dear White Spirit

You may find that NAET ( Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique ) will relieve you of your allergy. There aren't many practitioners in the UK yet, but you may find one locally - there's a practioner database on web site. 😉

The severe peanut allergy has been linked to certain creams used for acne, as they use peanut oil as a carrier. If applied to broken skin, allowing the oil to contact the blood stream and this can prime the system for an allergic response in later life. [:o]

There's more info on allergies on the Ailment forum & more on NAET on our Holistic-Centre site below.

RE: peanuts allergy

Interesting reading, however, the bean link doesn't explain it all to me as my 7 year old son has developed a severe peanut allergy and has also had a severe anaphylactic reaction to brazil nut even though tree nuts and groundnuts are not of the same family - he is vegetarien and has never had a problem with beans of any description! We now keep him away from all nuts to be on the safe side but this is very difficult now Europe has become litigation paranoid and brought laws which scare many food manufacturers to label all their products "may contain traces of nuts" whether or not any real risk is present!

RE: peanuts allergy

Nuts & ground nuts have similar proteins and as suggested above the peanut is a legume, that's more closely related to beans.

Beans / legaumes are also, relatively common allergens, but not as well known as the specific peanut or indeed not allergy.

A vegetarian with a bean & nut type allergy could leave them with a very restricted diet, without all the essential amino acids (partial proteins) that they need. The upside is that the young are a lot easier to treat.

And.

Just wondering what kind of treatment you might be referring to?

RE: peanuts allergy

Is it a severe nut allergy? - if so then antihistamines may not be of use.

There isn't any natural remedies for nut allergies - apart from extreme avoidance!!!!
