At 3:00 this morning, I couldn't sleep. My palms were itching so badly that I wanted to scrape them along pieces of glass for relief. I tried ice, cold running water, antihistamine, lotion, but nothing helped. At 4:30 am, I resigned myself to getting up and having coffee. Lo and behold! I received immediate relief from the heat of my coffee cup. I hope that this experience helps someone else out there with the same problem. Try it, and let me know what happens!

How is your diet? Is your liver having to process a lot of junk foods or are you tkaing on board too many toxins like caffeine, sugars, additives? This can be the cause of bad itching for some and getting the nutritional side of things more balanced can really reduce this for some.

Thinking of it from a somewhat different angle - some believe that physical symptoms can serve as a metaphor for other things in our lives, e.g. expressions such as "she is a pain in the neck [or a...e]", "he makes me sick", "that was a big blow" etc, in relation to people, situations or stresses can sometimes manifest in a physical symptom in a particular part of the body...

In terms of itchy palms - is there anything you are "itching" to do? Something new, something different, something challenging, something scary perhaps? Perhaps something or somebody is stopping you from doing this? When did the symptoms first appear? What was happening in your life just before they started? Just a few questions to ponder...

Itchy palms and peeling skin is a not so known reaction to Ibuprofen medication.

Agree with Masha B too.

I need some help with this. I am having this problem of itchy plam since about 6-8 months. The itching starts ONLY in the evening - after I return from office - and continues till I go to bed. I have consulted a dermat. and she said that this could be due to some allergies and have given me a medicine to treat the allergy. I do not get any itching when I am on that medicine, but if I miss to take that medicine for a couple of days, it starts itching badly. It is as severe as it can get. The itching is all over the palms, finger, in middle of the fingers and on the back of plams. Looking at the palms and fingers, no one would be ever able to make out that there is some problem, however I know there is something terrebly wrong.

I can remember only of one thing since when the itching started. I remember that I had started taking some multivitamins and the itching started a few days after that. Does anyone think this could be the reason?

Itchy palms

I googled itchy palms & came across this site. Very interesting. For the past week, My palms have been very itchy, particularly the right. I have carpal tunnel syndrome so it may be that. I have used hand creams but they don't help. However, one of the writers suggested stress as a cause.. Eureka! we are in the process of moving and I have been packing for the past 3 weeks. So I am thinking paper, packing boxes, dry skin +stress. Maybe it'll be gone in 2 weeks.
